Fuji Supreme differences?

I just bought my second Fuji Supreme and there are a lot of differences between the two bikes.

Bike A:
S/N = SF248676
Brake date codes = Feb '82
Lever date codes = June '82
Tubing = VALite butted 414
FD = Fuji-badged SunTour date-coded Feb '81
RD = SunTour 7-GT
Shifters = SunTour friction

Bike B:
S/N = KH203282
Brake date codes = June '82
Lever date codes = July '82
Tubing = VALite double butted 212
FD = SunTour AR? date-coded March '82
Shifters = SunTour power friction w/ratchet
RD = SunTour AR?

There are lots of other differences like the front and rear reflectors and the rims. The date codes indicate both could be 82 models but the serial numbers (and the tubing) seem to show that they are very different. Are they both original? Is either original? Any other Supreme owners out there care to share their gruppos?

Bump!

Hey, two or three people have recenty started posting about their Supremes. I'd appreciate it if you could add to this post as well with some info on your bike's components.

Bikes: Mostly English - predominantly Raleighs

I recall speaking to a bike shop owner who was in the business back then, and he said that prices were escalating quickly in that time frame, and that many bike manufacturers were looking for ways to cut costs by downgrading some of the components. I'm not quite sure about interpreting serial numbers on Fujis, but despite having newer components, bike B may be older, and thus have better stuff on it - and bike A has slightly older, and probably down a notch components on it.

I'm not sure what the difference between 212 and 414 tubing is though.

Where's T-Mar when you need him.

Mine appears to have the same groupo as your first example i have been meaning to do the serial numbers on that bike for this forum. I'll check it tonight when i get home. I need to do this before I convert the bike, I love the frame but feel I need to update the drive train.

Fuji Supreme

I have the B model. Serial Code KH203306 with same components as you have listed. I don't know any more about this bike than you do.

Bikes: 1974 Huffy 3 speed

I have groupo A
Tubing = VALite butted 414
RD = SunTour 7-GT

S/N SF247642

From what I understand S is the manufacturing facility and F is the month (July?). In any case, it look like the OP's bike and mine were put together same month/ same place. Maybe they can out of vaLit 212 steel at that place. ?
