philadelphia ride

so, the idea's been battered (not batted) around a bit. i wanted to make it official by posting it in the bikeforums.

is anyone interested in a group ride in philadelphia? maybe something after work/school some day? i know it's raining now and the forecast doesn't look great, but i bet we could squeze one in sometime soon. it could be a nice easy ride on the bike path through the park, or a loop out into some pretty suburban areas w/ hills or maybe a ride through downtown at night. whatever. i'm up for anything. i'd really like to ride together and get to meet some other friendly philly bike riders. so, who's interested. suggestions?

Bikes: 2001 Lemond Nevada City (only the frame remains)

My schedule is tight but I'll be open to it. Just for fixies?

i personally don't care if people ride a fixed gear bike or not. i just checked noaa.gov and it said that thursday looks like the next day w/o rain. how would that work? if it works for some and not others, i am planning on riding that day anyways and always enjoy company, so let me know.

thursday is little tough for me unless its after 9PM...

also i'm probably only in for very leisurely or downtown rides. my SS MTB and out-of-shape legs can't keep up with all those fancy track bikes =]

I honestly prefer downtown rides as well.. (especially at this time of the season when I'm extremely out of shape)...but like I said, I'll go with the flow

maybe you allready know about these guys
https://phillybikeclub.org
but if not there are lots of group rides, and they have a news group, and you dont have to be a member to join in either.
the bicycle coalition of greater philadelphia also has a big ride comin up that should be fun

yes, thanks. i've been on a few rides w/ the bcp. they've been very fun and i like the b-ramble's a lot. friendly and laid back but a good workout. just looking for more people to ride w/.

regarding city rides: i'm very much open to this. go w/ the flow... we just need a leader.

Im in.... I have not been on the bike in a few days (due to my job and this stupid RAIN!) and I am really itching to ride....This weekend is supposed to be AWESOME if you want to plan it for saturday instead. Either way I am in. I usually will ride with Cowboy Dan so I will call him and tell him about it if he doesnt see the post in time. Your best bet is probably to post a meeting time and place and whoever is there is there. The weekend would be a lot better though...at least for me since I am a 9-5 nerd.

nocoins brings up a good point re. saturday. so long as the weather holds(and my leg stops hurting), i plan on riding both days. so how would thursday after work, like say 5.30 or 6 (is later better for most?) work. meet at the italian fountain by the art museum?

and then maybe on saturday we could do a longer ride? meet at like midday and enjoy the (hopefully) sunny warm weather?

how does this sound?

also, please feel free to contact me at: simundza at wharton dot upenn dot edu instead of on the forums

yeah, sorry: the italian fountain is the big cul-de-sac just north-west of the art museum (behind it, if you will; there's lots of parking there). i'll be there tonight at 6. it's winding pretty hard; should be fun.
