Dual purpose Surly Pugsley !

Just received my 29er SnoCat offset wheelset from Wildfire Designs Bicycles of Alaska and they look great. The 29er 2.35 Big Apples look about 1/4 " taller than the 26x4.0's. I plan on putting them on in March since I think we are going to get snow in February and I want to try the 26x4.0's. Ever since I received my Pugsley a few weeks ago we had record high temps at least three times. Here are some photos I just took.

I purchased it a few weeks ago as a snow/sand bike but all we had was record high temps (for January)so far and no snow . Here is a photo of the WTB bars .

It's almost the same bike that was used in the Canning Stock Route Bike Adventure.

Joe1946, that’s one sweet ride. I hope you get some snow to check out all the float you have.

I'm in the middle of deciding on getting the Pugsley or a custom Wildfire cycle (with a big price tag), The complete snow bike from Wildfire I was wondering how are they with customer services and so on? I'm not worried about how fast they deliver. I have until next winter to wait.

Thanks,
Johnny

Johnny , Mark Gronewald at Wildfire Designs Bicycles is a great person to deal with and his customer services are tops IMHO. He just did the 2006 Knik Glacier Expedition up in Alaska about a week ago on his Wildfire bike. He also just updated his website.

I'd like one of those, especially living up here in AK. DeSalvo builds his frames for him now.

Thanks Joe, I just shot out an e-mail to Widfire to see what the price is for the Snow Bike. The 19' frame is a perfect fit for me.

One more? I can't seem to find a link to that used bike at the Wildfire site?

Thanks

Johnny

Johnny just email him at wildfire@mtaonline.net . I just put the 29er SnoCat offset wheelset he made on my Pugsley and here are photos of the 26x4.0's compared to the SnoCat 29er 2.35 Big Apples. I put 20psi in the Big Apples and it rides great.

I just rolled it on my digital bathroom scale standing up on the back tire and it showed 33.2lbs with the 29er 2.35 Big Apples on 44mm wide SnoCat rims.

I was wondering how the 29ers rode on your Pugsley - I like the idea, but I don't have the cash just yet. Also, here are some pictures of my Pugsley, built a bit late because the frame was lost in shipping and, by the time UPS owned up and decided to replace what they'd lost, Surly had none in stock!

I seem to be the only one fool enough to rock this thing single-speed...

Man, those things are awesome! I wish I'd had one in Germany.... Too bad I don't need one now. No sand or snow.

It rides great and the 2.35 29er Big Apples give it a suspension feel to the bike.

Man, somebody with some welding skills should modify one of those to be two wheel drive...that would be the sickest snow/sand bike ever!
