Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Just trying to understand why SS are so popular. To me, it just seems you are limiting your options. I don't mind SS - I may get one myself, but still I ask.

There is probably a single speed forum for this type of inquiry.
Don't quote me on that though, this is strictly off the record.
Enjoy

I never said they were evil. You sound defensive. Is there something I should know about single speeds?

Bikes: 1960 Malvern Star

AR, I rode a Malvern Star Boy's Bike (Speargun Blue) for years and years and years. I loved that bike *sniff* and still do. It's just when you get a little older the gears make the hills a bit smaller again.

If you want one, get one.
