Looks like the Trader Joe's sunscreen you mentioned is a very good AND reasonably-priced product. I will go buy a bottle tomorrow. Now I hope the TJ's in my area has it in stock.

Sunscreen doesn't prevent skin cancer. It may prevent sunbutn but it doesn't guarantee you won't get skin cancer.

I'll put sunscreen(face stuff mainly) on even if I'm just gonna be driving the car. Not worried about cancer more trying to preserve my good looks.

I do not wear sunscreen. I did get the vaccine and boosters. Long Covid erased 75+ watts off my FTP. Some things are controllable and some are not.

From my experience with a sunscreen mfg, they are completely out of control and I would not apply anything they made on my skin, even they were not banned by the state of Hawaii (reef destruction), have been shown to degrade in 30 minutes, were not disruptive to hormones, or did not have various contaminants. I'm just not putting benzene on my skin whether it is 5 or 10x the arbitrary limit of 2 ppm. I will use zinc at altitude or titanium when feeling spendy.

Now back to bashing the troll.

Does anyone know where a guy can get a call girl in Dubai that doesn't have harmful chemicals in her perfume? Asking for a "friend".

Aren't the ingredients shown in the OP a few that were banned by the European Union, but still allowed to be used in sunscreens by other countries?

I've also heard that you should replace your container of sunscreen every year. I used last year's bottle yesterday while outside doing yardwork for two hours, no ill effects, no sunburn. It doesn't have the ingredients listed in the OP either.

And when I finished the yardwork I drank a big glass of 'evil' tap water. So far I'm still alive, I guess I'll live to ride another day.

The Actives do not degrade to benzene and benzene has been identified in sprays and lotions. So, clearly not a propellent issue as commonly reported. FDA should have been able to identify the source of contamination in a day. Pathetic really.

My wife has a crater in her back, from the removal of a malignant melanoma. Been decades now and luckily the surgeon got it, and no problems since. Yeah, I use sunscreen!! I don't grow my all of my veggies and I do eat meat from the grocery store also.

Living in air conditioned spaces is bad for one's 'health'. What are they conditioning the air with?
The great American HVAC misinformation crisis will kill ya. I absolutely avoid air conditioning, esp when cycling.

Driving a car destroys the Earth - exposes one to other reckless cagers, drive-by shooters, rock throwers.......... Cagers endanger cyclists and The World.

Urban pick-up trucks ....... endanger cyclists (don't get me started on soccer Mom SUVs)

Breathing can be bad for one's health if the air isn't healthful! . The Great Canadian Conspiracy of 2023.

Living is a hazardous sport, participate at your own risk.

Preventing sunburn is a good enough reason for me. I burn easily and it is not a good experience. So I use sunscreen on rides, especially longer rides in exposed terrain.

I don't think you have any idea how predictable your response is.

As for sunscreen, I have intention to use it, and even bought a new can of stuff recently. It's on the same bench as my bike tools, right next to my box of gels. So far, I've forgotten to put it on even once this year. I need to change my habit.

Not to mention that sunburn can significantly increase melanoma risk.

Ignore the troll.

In recent years, I am using physical blocks (long sleeve jerseys, etc) and avoid riding during peak UV, as much as possible.

IMO, many people aren't aware how distinctive their written words are. Not necessarily in a post or two, but over time, patterns become apparent. Maybe related to how they structure sentences/paragraphs, how they use/misuse punctuation, the type of topics they get involved with, or their attitude in direct response to others.

The schedule of my family life doesn't always leave me a lot of flexibility on when I ride. It's either within a certain window, or not at all. I just need to get better about remembering to use sunscreen.

Has anyone, in the entire history of the Earth, ever argued that using sunscreen guarantees you won't get skin cancer?

Let's break this down into little chunks that even YOU may understand.

Sunscreen reduces the incidence of skin cancer. That means it helps prevent skin cancer. Science: 1. wolfchild : 0.

Nothing can guarantee that a person won't get skin cancer, which is why no one has made such claims for sunscreen. Logic: 1. wolfchild : 0.
