Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Actually, that accident happened back in the summer of 2006 (I am from Cincinnati and I was still living there at the time.) I was out riding that day, and came across that accident. It was probably the worst thing I'd ever seen. I had nightmares for weeks – I still regularly think of it.

That is one of the most disturbing images that I have ever seen. I don't think I've ever seen so many bodies flying through the air like that...

I got hit from behind by a car on the way to work this morning. It hurt. A lot. Thankfully, I escaped with only some road rash and a sore shoulder from carrying my bike the rest of the way to work. I hope the guys in that crash recover soon. I'm feeling a (small) bit of their pain this morning.

...and my opinion of motorists is not doing so hot today.

Yes... in Mexico again, about 18(?) years ago in a pro race. Drunk driver slams headfirst into the pack. Don't think anyone died, but a lot of injuries. The cyclists nearly beat the driver to death.

I did one race in Mexico a long time ago. We had a rolling road closure... cop up ahead would make approaching cars pull off until the pack was past, so we were using both lanes. While going through a narrow canyon a trucker just barrels through at top speed. The pack moved over quickly to make room for him, but people on the right side got pushed off the road and into a bunch of large rocks... several broken bikes and bodies there...

People should never ever get their license back if they get caught with even a single DUI. They will drive drunk over and over again.

A highschool kid was killed about 3 blocks away from where I live because I drunk driver blew the stop sign and rolled over her. Fled the scene of course, but was caught and is Bubba's ***** right now.

I love how the video expired, but they still show you an ad. Frickin' A. "You just wasted 30 seconds of my life... And I want it back."

Now you can start another thread saying don't post another thread about the Mexican Car-Bike mishap. It'll be fun.

Exactly. Photoshop trick. I mean, look at the guy in the yellow. He's like 10 feet in the air and the car looks like it's doing about 5MPH. I don't think so. Now, we got some jokesters posting mexican dinners, and Selma Hayek pics for everbody, so I'm guessing it's a hoax too. Photoshop can do anything.

From a foxnews article:
Matamoros newspaper El Mañana described children crying, women shouting for help and men trying to lynch Campos before police arrived to arrest him.
