It’s working fine now. There was no need to dispose of it (although many people would). It will require annual attention going forward, which I am happy to do. I do not intend to chuck it out.

If we were living by the coast it’d be a problem with the salt air, but as it is they hold up remarkably well. I try and keep well on top of maintenance which helps.

I’d be tempted to have that chain a couple of links longer I think. Maybe you tried and with such a small cog up front it’s too flappy?
