The Bengals used to be the only disc calipers rated for tandem use - I don't know how bad pad wear was, but the caliper would not melt or boil, which was a plus point compared with others at the time.

Those things? I can't imagine them holding up well for a kids bike let alone a tandem. There is nothing to boil on those things though it is cable actuated.

Well yes, that was the point. Back when disc brakes for mountain bikes were still pretty exotic, tandemists were looking for an alternative to the classic Arai drum brake which was expensive, heavy and getting hard to find. Someone at Bengal said "sure, we won't invalidate your warranty" while other makers wouldn't support their brakes' use on tandems. Turns out Bengals could handle the heat quite well, and some tandem specialists still stock them.

this is the brakes that I wanted in the first place, but I cannot find any info about them.

I don't know2 what long pull brakes are, please explain???

These are what I want for my mittened hands most of the year. are they available for the HD brakes I need?

the bike shop Entrepeneur said I could not get the smaller rotors for the rear of my bike. Maybe I should just settle for the 180mm for the front.
I need a leaver that will not lock up the front wheel and through me over, or just crash on wet asphalt.

I had a crash on gravel a few weeks ago, not fun.
