The below cost me much much much less than a decent bike. Obviously, I don’t pay myself for my time

I'm sorta glad I don't play guitar anymore. I can cross stuff like Gibson and Rickenbacker off my list.
Except my sister in law gave me a baby Taylor. I've just been staring at it for the last two months.
I was close to trying guitar building. Being a luthier. I even bought an ukulele kit to start.
Many sleepless nights on Stewmac...
Thankfully I resisted. Maybe when I retire.
By the way, ukuleles are like guitars. I once had like eight or nine around here. Down to just four.

OMG! I didn't know I have the syndrome. I have started cycling in the last two years, and so far, I have built 10 bikes from framesets, one bike per ~2.4 months.
Naturally, the next question is... How do I stop, please?
Cheers....

Honestly though, a “weak” stacked humbucker might be your best best. Perhaps with a high pass filter on the volume pot.

My cycling gear weaknesses are jerseys with skull motifs & lately cassettes. The latter because I have yet to find the perfect cassette for my gravel bike. I never drop to the 11 tooth and the drop in cadence when going from 15 to 13 is too dramatic, but that's a different thread.

Ooh, interesting proposal! I'm actually also researching Lace sensors. Even if they hum...some sweet sounds have been obtained from those.

If you go the route of stacked bucker and high pass filter, I recommend a push-pull pot for volume so you can turn it on/off. For the high pass cap, something in the neighborhood of 330 picofarad should do.

Like "new" stuff, or new stuff? I'm not big into the new things in bikes, but I usually either get stuff to build, upgrade, or replace broken parts. Once. So probably not.

I most definitely fall into the guitars/ bikes world of GAS, but my 25+ guitars exceeds the number of bikes I have by about two to one.

You mean like buying new grips, fenders and a bell? No, I wouldn't do that...

I would like to, but alas my bank account keeps the spending to dull roar. But I do need new grips, the old ones are worn thru....having trouble picking a color style though. LOL And sending bike in for yearly "tune up" Arthritis in hands keeps me from working on it too much. Can't get stuff tight enough anymore. Good thing my friend owns a bike shop...

Other addictions
I have been fairly restrained on bike-related purchases lately. Acquisitions have been limited to the purchase of new kit. I rebuilt the bike over the winter, so I don't have anything to tweak on it.
I have an Olympus OM-D EM-5 kit in a small Think Tank backpack. It makes it easy to combine cycling and photography - two hobbies for the price of one!
If you need a hobby to really vacuum out your wallet, try watch collecting... a new Rolex costs as much as a superbike. However, the authorized dealers have years-long waiting lists for the more popular stainless steel models. At least with a waiting list you won't succumb to a spur-of-the-moment purchase, unless you go "gray market".

Well, not to be turning this into a guitar thread (sorry 'bout that), but I've done just that! The first two photos are a couple of builds that I did with a friend of mine (now owned by others), and the last photo is a bunch of partscasters I've assembled over the years. I use the parts guitars more often for gigging than any of the other guitars I own. If I had a decent wood shop, I'd probably get back into building guitars from scratch again.

Since I can’t exceed 9, my last two builds have been for friends too .

Love your build, too! It's great to see other guitarists on here, for I'm quite sure that most of us are fully aware of our GAS issues......LOL. Funny, but when I first saw "GAS" in the title of this thread, I just had to see what it was all about......

Term GAS exists in every hobby. I had it for guitars and amps, photography equipment, motorcycles, now guitars.
My only advantage is that I'm a minimalist so it never gets too out of hand. I keep 1 or 2 best things instead of getting tons of gear.
I also sell everything once I'm over that hobby.

@jim_pridx those are some amazing looking guitars. Excellent work! Are you selling them, or is it a hobby of passion?
