I'm not sure what the fork is but probably some early 90s bling.

Mine has the chainstay u brake for the rear so that puts it within a couple years.

Looks great! I'm also curious about the paintjob.

The paint was pretty basic. Took it down to metal where it needed it and sanded the entire bike to smooth everywhere. I initially hit with Rustoleum grey primer but changed to white and coated the entire frame. I then painted it with a coat of Rustoleum white spray paint. I finally found a store that carried the Rustoleum Pearle Mist. Can looks different than the isual spray cans and i had no idea how it was going to work out but I wanted to try and het it back to original. Needless to say after 3 coats of the pearl I’m really happy with how it turned out. The paint was easy to work with for sure. Let it sit for a week or so and coated it with three coats of Rustoleum 2x clear gloss. I’ve never waxed a frame before so i tried some stuff i had laying around. Not sure if it helped much but looks good. If anyone has advice on how to wax up a great gloss I’d appreciate it.

Looking forward to seeing it done. I just finished an MTB with Ritchey everything, and I love how it turned out.

Nice.

With the seat. I’m thinking just good old black cable housing will be a nice contrast to the frame.

Clean build BTW

Wow, looks fantastic. I concur black housing would be great. Sometimes simple is best.
Did you spray the clear over the decals?

I am not the local expert, but my understanding is it depends on the material. Thin waterslides can/should be cleared over; the thicker ones (I forget the right term) are fine applied on top of the finish. Maybe someone else can give a more definitive answer. I was just curious about your process. It looks great.

I don’t know the technical term for these either but I can tell you they were thicker than any I’ve scraped off a bike frame. I was actually surprised at how thick they were.

Black,
to contrast frame.

If you hate it. It’s an easy swap.

Same thing occurred on a '96 Trek 970 I'm building up. Rock hard. Went to the same pads you did, actually. KoolStop salmon all-weather. Nice units.
