But we love you...especially when we spot you bent over your bike in those baggy shorts. Oh my, you're our girl, no worries!

I'm one of the nicest roadies I know!
<breaks into song>
He always says "hello"
and he's really glad to meet ya!
Where ever he may go
he's kind to every living creature!

Sniff, sniff, thanks Siu. I knew a roadie would show kindness in my hour of need!

Well from my experience it is the same as the rest of society. I am a friendly guy and I have had no problems with any of the roadies I have met...well maybe one or two. I go to the PA Triple Crown Pro Road Race every year and I meet nothing but the nicest people, whether they are racers..."wannabes," "poseurs" or recreational riders like myself. I also went out to Lancaster for the LBBC Covered Bridges Metric Century with two very cool members of this site (neilfein and The Historian)and also got to meet some of the finest and most wonderful people I have ever seen on bikes, not to mention in other areas of my life. The title of this thread may as well be "Women are not as bright as men...prove me wrong." It is just as inane. Riding on the roads in some areas...like mine...well we have alot to be concerned with, like getting killed by some inattentive, angry or just plain bad driver. I think that is a bit more than the average mtn biker needs to be concerned with. Also remember that you are reading internet posts from anonymous people in here. Many of the things said in here, no matter which sub-forum, would never be said face to face to another person. The internet gives many people muscles and high IQs...trust me I have been the victim of it in here.
I try to like everybody and leave it to the other person to show me why I shouldn't. In cycling (no matter what discipline) as in life, the VAST majority of participants are terrific people.
Cheers,
Brian
....sorry for being so long-winded (handed?).

My favourite unfriendly group is tri-geeks. They get all down and low on their aerobars, not waving back or saying hi or anything, which forces us to ride up beside them and ask if they're okay, or if their hand is stuck to the handlebar and if they need medical attention for their condition, at which time they demonstrate that at least one of their fingers still works, so we dial it up to 400W and ride away from them.

Most of the roadies I know are nice people. I showed up at the local group ride today on my fully decked-out LHT. Rather than scorn, I got respect and admiration for hauling a fat-tired 32 lb touring bike along in a group mostly consisting of CX bikes. The response is similar when I ride my speedy bike - when they realize I'm riding a 20 year-old 7-speed bike with downtube shifters, people tend to be impressed, not dismissive. My bicycles are conversation pieces, because they are unique and because I keep up on them (as long as the pace isn't too high ).
I don't ride mountain yet, but most of the MTB'rs I know are also nice. And of course, there are jerks riding each, or both. Isn't trying to take the high ground over another group of riders doing what they like kind of... jerky?

Hey you MTB potheads! Could it be because you always bogart that doobie when a clutch of roadies go by on the path? "Hey, hold it down, here come some ****zes in spandex". Yeah, we hear ya. You're bringing it on yourselves.
Everybody gets a wave from Spreggy on the road or path, whether you want it or not. MTBs, roadies, joggers, the homeless, etc. And female joggers get the wave-hello-nod combo if I'm feeling generous.
