The worst bike I rode was a Cannondale with the rear dropout sticking out about 2 inches from the rear stays and the chain stays. Remember those? I think there were R500 or something like that. Circa 1986. The tubes were HUGE back then as well. Those Cannondales always felt like they had a flat tire. I noticed that and I talked to a few friends who were on the first Cannondale Team who said the same thing. "Gosh, this bike feels like it has a flat tire"
Then I talked to a civil engineer who has an engineering background and said "well, if the tubing is so large and made of alumininum so it absorbs all the road shock and energy from hitting a bump, then it probably absorbs energy from above as well". Meaning that your energy is absorbed back into the frame. And that was the flat tire feel we felt. Kinda made sense at the time.
Remember, aluminum back then was a departure from traditional steel except of course, the Vitus (which was my all time favorite frame, I had a 48cm or something small like that).
Of course, if I had the moolah....that new Cannondales do looks pretty nice.

We teach our kids not to ever say hate - for anything.
That word is ugly. C'mon. Let's all hold hands and sing something all campfirey.

Well, THIS thread has clear road bike content. I now hate everybody who doesn't ride a Cannondale (and just about everybody who does). I think that still covers everything.

Cannondale makes more than just road bikes. Mods, please move this to the dungeon we call General Cycling.

And I'm very happy with the Six13. My next road bike move will be when Dura Ace (Duhrah Ahhh Cheee) goes 11 or 12 speed. And I'll bet it's a System 7.5. Figure 2009 model year late next year. If I haven't been hit by a pickup truck yet. So that's a 50-50 chance.
I TRY not to fall into the Bike Weenie Gear Lust Syndrome. Sometimes I even succeed, but I did have to call a major 'time out' after the second set of Mavic Ksyrium ES wheels in 2006. Ouch.

We don't say hate at our house, but we sure do kick the living mess out of those who try and throw the first punch.
