Could be a combination of factors.
Exercise has an effective on digestive motility.
Dehydration, electrolytes.
Carbs. Some kinds of carbohydrates can make some folks gassy. I can't take much with rice, potatoes, etc.
Oatmeal, bananas, etc., provide a lot of carbs and bulk that can cause problems. While I eat that stuff for breakfast, I don't carry bananas, oatmeal bars, etc., on bike rides. I prefer snacks that don't provoke me into desperately seeking tiny building with half moon cutouts in the doors.
Ditto some common sports/energy snacks and drinks. Sugar alcohols like erythritol, maltitol, etc., are great for an energy boost with low glycemic index, but the downside is they make some of us very gassy. Usually I check the labels for any protein bars, gels, etc., but occasionally I'll grab something on sale cheap without reading the label. I'll know within an hour whether it contains sugar alcohol -- I'll be turbocharged for a few hours. Fortunately I've avoided group rides for the past year due to the pandemic, so there are no victims in my wake.
While less common, some folks can't digest maltodextrin without gas and digestive upset. Usually maltodextrin is pretty safe for most folks.
TBH, unless you have diabetes or other contraindication, sugar is pretty safe fuel for most normally healthy active folks.

Does it bother you that you're getting stuff out of your body that you don't have a use for? If I only crap once a day, I'm happy. If I crap multiple times a day, I'm even happier.
Exercise and lots of stuff can change your regularity. As long as you are crapping a minimum of once a day, you are good. IMO.
Worry when you are crapping less than once a day!

Could be caused by a combination of things. Exercise helps move "stuff". Diet has an effect too. Found this on the interweb. https://www.healthline.com/health/ho...you-poop-a-day
If it keeps happening you might consider seeing a Dr. Or maybe keep a log of your exercise, diet and "BMs" for a couple of weeks. Just a thought.

This is the first post I've read since registering / logging in and I think it was a great first read. Really sets the tone for future expectations that there's no question off limits.

You have to be sure to stay hydrated even when you are not on the bike. My wife will go all day without a glass of water, come home and complain about her gut. She'll do a number two about once every three days because of this, and try as I might to get her into the habit of hydrating, she just won't comply. She'll walk around for days with a bloated gut, and distended belly, and when she finally goes, its epic and voluminous. She's not overweight, nor a large woman, but its unbelievable how much she can store up. Just think of how much waste that you are carrying around in any given moment. Its better to eliminate it. Set up a routine for drinking, and I recommend making yourself an apple cider vinegar tonic at least once a day for gut health.

despite my last lighthearted post in here for the OP to “prove it”. I agree. We are adults and sometimes legitimate and adult questions get raised. We cant offer medical advice online but giving consolation if something uncomfortable to speak of elsewhere has happened to us too seems in the spirit of a training thread
