Yep, they will stretch. I put a new pair on some first gen Fulcrum Racing 0 wheels not more than two weeks ago. Last few inches tough but I got 'em on with just the thumbs. I went to ride the bike these are on yesterday and the front tube gave out as I went to air it up. Changed the tube just now and the tire was much easier this time to get reseated.

they stretch, my 32mm tires were only like 29mm at first but now that are like 33mm and wearing out, super easy to get on and off now(it was a flat in the hot sun tho so I agree with heating them up) and initially they were a nightmare to get on and my hands hurt the next day even

[QUOTE=RiddleOfSteel;22947973]. I'm full Kapton tape on everything now. Two layers does it. 5/8" wide serves me well. ]

Do you ever have to cut the tape narrower for older rims? Does it fully cover the holes on newer, wider rims?

I've used this tape on Mavic MA2 and MA40s, Open Pros, H+Son TB14s, Pacenti Brevets and Matrix Iso C II rims. The Matrix rims were narrow, so maybe the easier-to-find 1/2" Kapton tape is an easier install, but the tape is so thin, that even it running up the inner wall (brake track area) a touch doesn't effect things as the tire's bead mounts higher up that wall, on the hook. The TB14 and Brevet rims are 23mm external, and the 5/8" width does cover those holes sufficiently, but one has to be diligent in aligning the tape over the holes evenly. And if in doubt, a third pass is not going to appreciably thicken things to the point of affecting tire installment.
