No power meters, you are a professional athlete, you should know how hard your body is working.

No heart rate monitors, you are a professional athlete, you should know how hard your body is working.

Bike computers can only show distance travelled, nothing else, the course is clearly marked, there is no need for computer navigation
Perhaps you could suggest a C&V version. 5-speed straight block, steel frame, friction shifting, rim brakes (spongy old school single pivot), non-anodized aluminum rims and of course wool jerseys and deerskin chamois. The big question would you allow doping just like in the old days?

Another option...Super-Modified. Take anything you want. First rider to reach the finish alive wins. Next of kin are eligible to receive prizes.

Nothing written had to do with the bike, only secondary knowledge. And in doing so could make racing more intuitive and less formulaic. Are you saying racing isn't boring enough?

And if you want to troll C&V bikes, try again. Try harder. Fail harder.

Are they adding more than the 8 episodes available right now for the 2022 race? That would be unusual for Netflix.

Thanks for the tip about watching with the original format. I agree it’s better. 👍

Just finished the episode highlighting 2022 stage 12 where Neilson Powless broke away early but eventually gave way to what has become the emergence of Tom Pidcock. I find the backstories and team dynamics both insightful and entertaining. I continue to be amazed by how revered the sport is throughout Europe while often still categorized as a hobby in the U.S. Had to chuckle when Powless and his wife made their decision to move to France so he could train. You’d never see a pro NBA of NFL player subject themselves to such meager accommodations.

Definitely a worthwhile series to watch IMO.

I hadn't considered that anyone might have binged all 8 episodes already!

Well, there's full coverage of this year's Tour coming up on GCN+, as well as their pre- and post-race discussion ('The Breakout'), 'Cycling News,' preview show, etc. You could spend all day watching Tour coverage!

I watched the first episode and half of the 2nd. Outstanding commentary, Excellent video footage, and the Action and Drama of the race expertly put together that even the non cycling experienced public would be sure to enjoy . So far so good .

Very glad to see Cycling getting some much needed exposure again.

I was skeptical, but tried this and agree it is better, even as I try listen and match french words to pronunciation.

Netflix also has a documentary series, 'The Least Expected Day,' following the trials and tribulations of Spain's Team Movistar. There should be another season coming soon. What we see on Netflix is pretty clearly edited down from a longer version shown in Europe, but it's plenty, as the focus is more on team dynamics than actual racing. Movistar's emphasis in recent years has evidently been creating interpersonal drama rather than winning bike races.

I have watched a bunch of Chris Horner's YouTube post-race analysis. Clips, not whole segments of th race. But a very well opinionated tactical analysis of every stage with the clips to prove his take on it. High energy commentary.

I wonder how many retro-grouches here follow today's bike racing, at all? Might see if I can run a poll. For me, and my family, it's the only sport we follow.
Self-proclaimed retro-grouch here....and I absolutely.love watching the TdF. The coverage is second to none for a sporting event, in my opinion. My wife and I watched nearly every stage of last year's race, and I thought it was one of the best TdF in recent memory.. We're also reliving it now via the Netflix series... GREAT series, brought back all the drama of the race, especially Jumbo-Visma's coordinated attack on Tadej Pogechar, and Vingegaard's ultimate victory.

We’re enjoying it. montclairbobbyb please edit your spoiler for those that didn’t/don’t follow racing. It would be neat if the real time broadcast could collect and share some of the bike-camera views for sprints, crashes, close calls, etc.

Last French win, 1985. Last Bears Superbowl win, 1985. Coincidence? I think not. I'm all in on the French if we have a Bears win this January. No French for 2023, guaranteed.

Is it still a "spoiler" when it's a race that ended 10+ months ago?

The production quality and extensive coverage make this a fine documentary. I'm a total retro grouch but the producers touch on the hard subjects of the extreme suffering, danger and abuse that can happen. Good storytelling in my opinion.
Wout Van Aert isn't the first rider unhappy with how he came across in a doc but I thought it had as much balance as most cycling docs considering how they tried to plumb the depths of all of the rider's experiences.
