What, you’re gonna ignore my link in post #9? Fits all your needs - steel bike, commuting, more than $150… not sure why the thread even kept going after that.

But these are $400 each man. I'm not involved in this sport. 😆

You can use "tubeless" tires with tubes. I do.

If you're going to use them on pavement and maintained gravel, check out the Continental Gatorskin. They are really tough tires and, to me, roll very well for what they're intended - a trouble free tire.

If you think you need some tread, check out Continental Terra Speed, Maxxis Rambler, Donnelly MSO or Vittoria Terreno (three versions dry, mix, zero... I have the dry). They are all excellent tires and roll well on pavement or maintained gravel and also have a little tread for occasional slippery stuff. All would make great commuter or general use tires. I would buy based on finding one of these options on sale as they are all fine tires.

Most decent tires today are made to run tubeless. That doesn’t mean most people run them without tubes.

And it makes no difference if it is an old style or new. I have a couple of 26er mtbs that I run Fire XC Pros on the rear. It is a 25 year old design but I can’t buy a new folding one that isn’t tubeless compatible.

The most affordable and good-quality tyres are CST, Kenda, and some Decathlon own branded.

Color is important

What color is the bike. Might determine a lot.
