Hopefully the OP will actually look for hex engagement deeper in the bolt before trying this.

Yes of course, if the leg doesn't need amputating don't amputate it, but if it does, time is money, and it takes longer to plug in the welder, than to take out that bolt, so yes, it IS the answer.
