Do you judge people by their components (be honest)

Alright I'll admit that I do, but maybe not the way you think.
I generally see Sora and Tiagra on college kid's bikes, and I just assume they are thrifty by necessity, and are not "serious" cyclists regardless.
105, Ultegra just kinda blend in to the crowd.
DA or Di2, you'd better be able to ride, or I silently laugh to myself, knowing that checkbook skills do not translate directly to the road, while you apparently do not (this can apply to Red or Super Record if mounted to a Serotta frame).
Any SRAM group, especially Rival, rider is a discerning consumer, more interested in the cost\benefit analysis of their components than the bling factor.
Any Campy group Veloce and below, why bother, you should be riding Rival.
Any Campy group Centaur and above, you are likely a pretentious euro-wannabe just riding to the next espresso stop.
Microshift. ?, really?

This topic pretty much asks for our biases. I just decided to be verbose about it
It should be noted that I do like my Ultegra bike though, and I was a sram skeptic until I gave it a shot.

To an extent. If I see a guy show up on a new looking Trek 1.1 with Sora components, I'll probably assume he's not well versed in group riding and pacelines since thats usually a beginner bike. I'll probably ask if he knows how to ride in a group and the general rules of pacelines. Will I assume he can't drop me? Hell no, because he probably can. So yes, I'll make a judgement call on skill level, but not fitness.

Bicycle Repair Man !!!
I sure do!
She's got to be somewhere between 5'2 and 5'7. I would prefer that she have high cheek bones and dark brown eyes. I'd love for her to have straight black hair and some skin tone would be nice too. If she were somewhere between the skin tone of Thalia and Beyonse, that would be nice. Of course, her measurements would have to be approximately 38-24- 36. The middle measurement is the most important one, though. She would also have to have a lively personality and a really good sense of humor. It would also help,if she were slightly submissive. I don't want her in my face unless it's that special time ( you know what I mean). OTOH- I don't want her at my feet waiting for permission to go to the mall or hang out with friends or something. That would just get on my nerves! She would have to be very loyal or else she would cause me to do life in prison.
She would have to keep my ten commandments:
1) I will serve you whenever you want to be served.

Bicycle Repair Man !!!
Have shown up for rides and been asked why I brought my touring bike as there was no way I could possibly keep up... my "touring bike" was / is a hand built steel racing bicycle.
I appreciate nice bicycles that are well kept but know that what a person is riding does not reflect on their character or abilities as a cyclist.

I am riding 28 year old Suntour ARX groupo DT technology...
Please don't judge... I am just happy with what I have.
Would I trade it for Di2 or brifters?
Never.
Now you can judge.

I don't judge, given I have been passed by guys in street clothes on old Fuji's with LOUD drivetrains (ok, it was an off day, but he went by me pretty damn fast!). I DO notice components whenever possible, though. Just because I like looking at nice bikes. I'm sure most of you do too. I STILL admire all of the SRAM Red and DA components in the glass case at my LBS, even though they have been there for a while. I like seeing them on bikes being ridden even more!

I dont ride in groups - there aren't that many other cyclists in the area where I live. There is a small group of roadies on the other side of town, but I'm not part of the clique. I ride cause I like it and I'm not hardcore like that, and I'm not really into camaraderie or "participation" activities.
Now, I do see an occasional casual rider passing on the other side of the road, but we only wave. On rare occasions I see a roadie, one who it seems has wandered away from the flock. But they never wave.
So just having someone "show up" to ride with me would be special. Sure, I'd notice what kit and fit he was sporting and I'd say something positive and uplifting. "Hey dude, nice set up..." something like that.
I ride solo, mostly, but I'm not an asshat.
Then he'd probably get one look at my junk and go quiet. I mostly ride around on my street converted ATB's, cause I like them. They're in good shape, with clean paint jobs and I keep them in smooth tune. But they're vintage ATB's... cant hide that.
I do have a nice road bike, with all the usual features, but it gets ridden maybe 20% of the time, compared to these others.
So he'd most likely see me on one of those rides and die laughing. Then he'd leave me behind at some point and likely duck out to find some "real" cyclists. Back to riding solo.
