Yesterday's impulse buy: hollow titanium chopsticks for those COVID lunches by the roadside. Ordered post-Brexit in England, so I don't know if they'll ever get here, and at what cost, but for the serious bike-packer these are a must-have, of course.

Too stoned, too much money came in from flips, sale price gets frame/fork/headset down to $220 delivered. It doesn't matter what they're made of, that's a really good price for a frameset.
So I built myself up a french fit carbon road bike.... with gravel bars, 46/30 rings, a mtb derailleur, and chinese knockoff double tap brifters.

Repeat story. When I started collecting in the 80's, I saw this clapped out CCM with an odd double sided cog on the rear. The woman at the garage sale told me she was selling her husbands crap while he was out of town and that it was an antique and only $5 if I wanted it. Done.
I took it to a shop where the proprietor told me excitedly that yes, this is a CCM Flyer from the late 30's ('37). At the time, I didn't know ****e from Shinola. Now the impulsive side of me kicks in. I stripped it and took the frame and parts to Tony Beeks, one of TO's best restorers. I got the finest multi-layered Dupont Imron paint, custom decals, new chrome and rebuilt wheelset for $600. That was a lot back then.
The kicker is that it's not a Flyer, it's a Road Racer. Not a top shelf track bike but a much more mundane street bike for wanna-be's. It's pretty but it's still not worth the money I put into it.

The the irony is that years later, I picked up an NOS Road Racer frame, same year, for $50

Took my bike on a lunchtime ride one day; stopped at the local pawn shop and this followed me home.
