Track Cranks

Any recommendations around the $200 mark? I'm trying to choose between the Miche square taper vs the outboard Andel Deluxe or Alpina. Will these be fine, or suffer the "cheap crank" issues Carleton mentions?
Currently I have a cheap 130bcd-3/32 86" setup, which is fine as cat-4/5 mass start racing is restricted to 86" here. I want to try sprinting though (unrestricted) and a flying 200m on 86" wasn't too great. I'd like to switch to the standard 144bcd-1/8 setup and a variety of gears, probably 48,50t rings, and 15,14t cogs.

I’m not familiar with the current offerings. But, I’ll offer this: If you think that you’ll keep with the sport for a while, invest in a quality crankset. You can move it to any bike, even Olympic caliber bikes. If you stay with the sport, they should have decent resale value.

Is the bike currently running a square taper setup? Are you open to a crankset AND bottom bracket replacement? Many folks at JBMV will have extra parts lying around and would be willing to give you a deal on something nice. I'd post this query on the FB page, and the Discord.

Only replaced it because of a deal I couldn't pass up on an SRM.

Dura Ace 7710 are the reference track crank. Comes in both Octalink sealed bearing or needle bearing that are internal to the BB. Used by the best ever. Even SRMs were made to use that same Octalink BB.
Shimano got it right.

Kinda relevant, don't know how good they are since I couldn't find a lot on them but ordered a set of Stronglight z'light cranks for 149.00 euros shipped, not certain what that will be in dollars but I'm guessing just under 200. CC will let me know in a couple days.
I know stronglight used to be a good brand, hopefully still are, and they have both a square taper version and a thruaxle version. Been hard finding a decent 165mm track crank at the 200 price which is also about my limit, but these were available.
