Really? You make it sound so one-sentence-easy.

Personally: I'd sell it to a one-sentence-easy-guy for $40 and buy a new B-17

Well, depending on the condition of the leather, for $40 I might be willing to give it a shot.

I have still the Brooks Team Pro I got in, 1974, but in the Damp 3/4 of the year PNW, its not on the bike I use most , those are Pleather covered.. Fizik Vitesse.. from my Brompton Dealer,
they got a batch in black with a rail bend to have more clearance..

BTW, My LBS has replaced Brooks Saddle frames..

Cu Rivets are a bit tough to set, esp setting those in the nose..
If you can accept its not just like the factory..

Pop-Rivets will make the rivet replacement easier.

Brooks saddle not symmetrical after 9,000 miles

I have a Brooks saddle, which has about 9,000 road miles on it.

The saddle has twisted some, reflecting some asymmetry in my pedaling, how I sit on the saddle, asymmetry in me, etc.

Any suggestions on how I can have this diagnosed by a Saddle ninja/maven? Maybe with multiple photos?

This weekend I had a short 5 mile ride on me old S-A Titanico, which I used in some metro centuries back in 2010. It was really comfy back then and on the weekend. But it took a lot of fine tuning (of saddle AND butt) to get to that point. I have a few other SAs that have not really lived up. Mrs. Road Fan loves a B17 Select on her single bike (not an S-type). I just bought her another one for her half of our tandem, and I got a B15 Swallow Select just lately for my half of the tandem. She's tried b17 Standards, but she thinks the Select is much more comfortable. She's been doing 50 mile loops on it from just west of Detroit Metro Airport to Lake Erie and back!

No experience out here with Rivet saddles, or the Gilles Berthoud?

Might you be interested in a lightly used Team Pro S? If so, PM me. I have a matching Team Pro too.

I just ordered a Selle Anatomica X1 a couple days ago. This will be my first venture into leather. For the past 5 years I've just gone with whatever stock saddle that came with the bike.

I find most of the Specialized Body Geometry Saddles reasonably comfy, even for all day.

I also have a Brooks B-17 that I like a lot, also good for all day.

Butttttt, my favorite is Selle AnAtomica NSX - which really was comfortable, right out of the box!

There is just something about leather, being better and more comfortable, than synthetics.

Yes, it would. I already have two Idéale mod 92 saddles with the «Rodée main selon D Rebour» treatment and like them very much.

Brooks team pro works for me; so does the Selle anatomica NSX. The SA is good from the get go unlike the Brooks which needs some breaking in.

What I have missing out on!
I ordered a Selle Anatomica X1 on 08/01, it shipped 08/02, and arrived 08/04. I installed it last night on my Wabi Special, and took it on its maiden voyage this morning.
My first impressions with my first venture with leather: at first my butt slipped around quite a bit; however, after the first 30 minutes, it settled into a groove. It was very comfortable during the next hour of riding. Also, I had no issues of numbness around my junk area, which occasionally occurred with the stock saddle.
I decided to go ahead and order another one for my road bike, while the 12% discount code is still available making them $132.00.

Edit: I still need to make a couple minor tweaks. I feel like I am sitting in a bowl, so I probably need to either raise or lower the nose. I'm not sure which way yet.

B17 on the Klein, Brooks Swift Ti on the Paconi, Brooks Cambium C17 on the Specialized MTB, Brooks Professional on the Cannondale, Rolls on the Fondriest and Repco. I would trade them all (except the B17) for five more B17s. The B17 was comfortable straight out of the box.

I just installed my second Selle Anatomica X1, this time on my road bike, and they both sure are comfy. I was thinking about exploring an option for my Hybrid. After doing a little search here I see lots of recommendations for the Selle SMP Hybrid. I may hold off though because I was also thinking about upgrading to another Hybrid bike. Decisions! Decisions!

If the saddle fits, ride it.

I like the "idea" of leather, the feel of leather, the look of leather.... after trying a Brooks B-17 and a Selle Anatomica, I just can't seem to like the fit. I always return to my trusty Selle Max Flite Trans Am. I bought 4 on eBay back in the day and have them on all bikes. Otherwise, I've ridden lots of saddles and grown to dislike most. I suspect most long time riders have a box under the workbench of old, rejected saddles.

I'm still on Brooks B17. I tried the "latest, greatest things" back in the 90's and went back to Brooks. I have tried an
SA for more than a season. I never really felt comfortable and came back from a week long trip with a boil in a very uncomfortable place.

Brooks B-17 Imperial

I've tried a lot of saddles since I sold my original 10 speed with its original leather saddle to a friend back in '85. The new gel technology seemed promising at the time, but never measured up to the comfort of the original saddle on my old bike (I should have kept it and put a new saddle on the bike when I sold it). Finally purchased a Brooks B-17 Imperial about a year ago and rediscovered the comfort. Since then, I purchased another for one of my other trusty old steeds and am very happy with them. Brooks Proofide helps to break-in and preserve the leather and the saddle tension is adjustable.

I have a very old Selle Anatomica on my double century bike; bought when Tom Mason was still alive so it must be 10+ years old and it's still quite comfortable. The only downside is that it's adjustment bolt is just about running out of room (threads).

I have a much newer Selle Anatomica on my go-fast bike (maybe four years old) which is just as comfortable (an X model). Much more recently (last year) I bought a Selle Anatomic for my wife and she loves it (which is saying something since she is very picky).

I've used Brooks over the years too, and while I have no complaints, they did take longer to break in compared to the Selle Anatomica (almost no break in time). I did buy a Rivet saddle, which is currently on my Titanium GT, and it took longer to break in (longer than Brooks even) but is fine now. Still haven't risked a double century on it though.

I have a ~20 yo Koobi SI on my MTB and a <1 yo Koobi auEnduro on my frankenroadbike. They've served me well. I'm fighting the urge to change the seat on my Domane from original (really doesn't seem to be the need at this point) and may give a Brooks a try if I do.

Update: I moved the auEnduro to my Domane the next morning. Seems an improvement.

I have been riding my '71 Schwinn Super Sport lately. Has a 50 yr old Wrights saddle that is not only comfortable but beautifully shaped and proportioned. Compliments the fillet brazed Schwinn frame nicely.

+1 for the SA. I've had mine for about 8 years. One modification I made was to drill some holes and lace it up like a Brooks Imperial. If it's sagging a bit, you can tighten the laces instead of the adjustment bolt. Also prevents some rubbing on the inner thighs. Also used a Dremel to widen the cutout a bit. Do get some squeaking as others have mentioned, but I oil from time to time. Seems to help.
