For 1986 the catalog specs a "Suntour Sealed" headset for the Pro model. Catalog here.

My '86 912 came stock with a New Shimano 600EX headset. Dimensions for that are here.

When I needed a new headset for the 912 I ordered one of these.

Yep I know what the catalog said it should have come with. Mine, unfortunately had the non-cartridge HS. Not that it would have mattered - the sealed bearings in the hubs were rusted and ruined as well.

Just posted to help clarify some of the ISO or JIS discussion, and to offer another nice, lower-cost option. I like the FSA unit and would buy again.

There have been some great options given, and whatever you decide to do, I hope to see pics of the Pro all fixed up and out on the road.
