Nothing to add except a comment on the use of the term "custom." I had always used custom to refer to a bespoke frame, handbuilt to the rider's measurements and riding style, not just swapping in parts on a mass-produced frame. Am I mistaken?

yah i agree, i put "custom" in quotes referring to how most people on craigslist consider their "sweet fixies" custom because they threw bright colored deep Vs on their stock bike, thereby "customizing" it

The guy I bought it from is a home owner that built the bike from his home
i believe he use the word custom because he painted it and added the extras
he had several fixed gears but they cost a little more ,
what he does is take old bikes and rehab them and sell them on cl
i was just curious to know the frame the bike rides flawless
for my needs I don't see any reason to spend hundreds of dollars , I get the same enjoyment and pleasure riding my neighborhood and around town. Thanks to all who gave positive feedback and to the negative comments thanks to you guys too

Come on dude lol
Do you get off like this , I mean if you didn't know the answer then there was no need for you to reply
I thought this was a forum to get bike info from, not a place where the senior members reply with sarcasm just because they may know more about bikes, or been posting on this forum longer. The internet is bigger than this forum and I think every member deserves respect, the members asking questions and sharing is what makes this forum what it is , stop trolling the newbies to gain some sort of self praise for yourself. Mods like you will run people off this forum , I'm sure that their are people that dislike your taste in bikes, we all ride the bike that we personally like, Stop Judging and criticizing members because they ride bikes other than what this website sponsors or the bike companies who endorse this website.. I read a lot of biased comments from the mods who sway members to buy from the sponsors.
Just let people enjoy the bike that they like without the negative comments.
I work in law enforcement the bike i bought was not stolen
the guy lives 10 mins away from me
he recycles bikes then re sell them plan and simple......

So you bought it from a bike chop shop? That explains the price.
Why the hell would someone who makes reselling bikes his business sell something for so cheap?
And you work in law enforcement? I'm calling BS on the notion that you have any training catching bad guys.

Are those rack mounts on the front??
You got a nice saddle, along with a free bike.
If not stolen, it may very well have been built from stolen parts, or the seller bought the wheels and seat cheap from people who stole them.
It looks like it was originally a townie and just got a wheel sex change.

Seems you have all the answers for proving the bike isn't stolen lol like others said why would he bother selling so cheap if he has other bikes that are more expensive and fixed bikes up and sells them. Great business plan.

Anyone--especially who has built up or worked on bikes and done it long enough, or owns a bike repair or sales shop (as someone here does) knows how the stolen trade works. At one point or another, we may become unwitting accomplices, and/or we develop a gut instinct (if we have any ethics) and behave responsibly.
If you've become an unwitting accomplice--well, what you do is up to you. It's a frankenbike of mismatched parts, and unless a serial for the frame or saddle is listed somewhere (unlikely) then just ride it and not worry about it, and maybe avoid doing further business with the seller if you start to have doubts.
The people on this forum are more knowledgeable than you are.
I won't apologize for laughing at Kindergarten Cop. You kind of dug that hole.

Thanks for the info sounds like a got a steal for $100 if the seat, rims and handlebars are worth more than what I paid for the complete bike.
