Haven't posted in a while. I enjoy seeing the things you guys do to your bikes. Here's mine. It's a Fuji Absolute 1.0 LE. First pic is straight from the bike shop. Rest of the pics are how it sits currently. Upgrades include, FSA SL-K Light Carbon crankset, FSA SL-K carbon seat post, FSA SL-K carbon stem and handlebars, FSA bottle cages, , Shimano A530 SPD pedals, Ergon GS2 carbon bar end grips, Selle SMP Hybrid saddle, Lezyne 600XL headlight, a no name led tail light, and a Garmin Edge 500. I almost have this bike completely how I want it. I will be getting a new set of wheels soon and then I think I'll be done modding this bike.

Some very nice upgrades, well done.

Decided that my bike needed a bit of color. Changed out the black cable housings for some yellow ones.

New freewheel and chain.

Installed a new Shimano 13-28 7 speed freewheel and Shimano chain. I made mistake last month when changed out the stock 14-34 freewheel for an older Shimano 14-28. The combination of old freewheel and newer change was giving me skipping problem under load. Now that both freewheel and chain are new, no more skipping. Everything shifts smoothly.

I suppose I have a hybrid bike now since my Madone has flat bars. Last night I adjusted the handlebars and brake/shift levers on my bike. Went for a quick test ride and enjoyed it a lot. Looking forward to riding this bike more.

I started on one of those - flatbar road bike... still a road bike imo, just a little less aerodynamic
Was very fast in the city, decided to go (full) hybrid for the extra comfort... do miss the speed sometimes.
Looks good btw

Yes, a little less aerodynamic but still pretty quick and fun. Thanks.

Upgraded my rear derailleur from a wonky Tourney to an Alvio, changed the saddle out to a Brooks B67, and changed the tires to a pair of Kenda Kwest 700c x 35 in a nice creme color.

So how well do the changes work?

If I was you, I would try and get some new black arms to connect your rack to your bike's seat stays.

I believe Bontrager sell them.

You know, I was thinking about changing the rails on the rack. I will check out Bontrager. I did the derailleur and the seat yesterday. What a difference! Derailleur is snappy and precise, seat ism comfortable. The tires will get their shakedown tomorrow..

I just got a 2016 Trek 7.3 FX a couple weeks ago. Being a noob... I apparently damaged the Presta Valve Stem pumping up the rear tire.
SO... today, for the first time, I figured out how to put on a new tube! Took the bike out for a little spin, and I think I fixed it properly.

I attached a small basket to the rear rack because I go to the store frequently. It's really handy. next pic

I then made a wall bike rack in my garage by using these heavy duty closet shelves with pole brackets from Lowes. Didn't need a fancy wall rack, some site suggested these and they work great. Only $6 each. I put some rubber tape in the hooks to protect the frame paint.

I added a board on the wall to add wall strength because one bracket was attached with hollow wall anchors. The other bracket is attached to a stud. What's nice is you can add a shelf right on top of the brackets:

Made some ghetto aerobars. Used some cheap aluminum bar ends. Then experimented extending them with some PVC piping and an aluminum curtain rod with some epoxy glue. Settled on the latter. Wrapped with some cheap EVA bar tape. Still have the second roll of tape for when I need to rewrap. The forearm pads are made out of repurposed gym grips I had lying around.

Also chopped the handlebars from 62 to 58 cm.

Still haven't rode it. Maybe tomorrow...

Brilliant !

What a fantastic idea - very clever !

You could even take it to the next level and use copper pipe and get a plumber to
braze the bits together for you to keep it rigid...just a thought.

Still, I love your idea and it's given me something to think about - thank you

Thanks for the comment. It made my day (that and the ride I went on this morning) . I wouldn't pay anybody to do it for me. Plumbers are expensive fellas. The idea was to save some dough. The copper piping might be a bit heavier than aluminum. Not sure about the rigidity aspect. Copper is quite soft. I think weight/strength wise, you can't beat alu. I found that the epoxy glue is holding everything very firmly in place.

Some ready made aerobars could set you off a few dollars more, but they might also be a bit more comfortable in the end. The bonus of my setup is that nothing protrudes inward from the handlebars, so I have all the space when I need it like climbing some technical terrain out of saddle, for example.

It cost me about 50 Brazilian reals (~15$) for the bar ends and the tape. I had all the rest at hand. If I had had to spend more, I wouldn't have gone this route considering options like this one: LIXADA Carbon Fiber Road Bike Aero Bar Rest Handlebar Aerobar 31.8mm TS T78J | eBay

Already posted this in the road forum but whatever - bought it a Feedback Rakk. Wanted silver, but instant gratification of getting black at REI and saving like $8 over having a silver one shipped won out. Excuse my lack of carpet:

Much better than this plastic piece of junk I started off with (yes it's wrapped with tape to protect my spokes):

Polishing

As a self confessed weight weenie I replaced a nice Ritchey WCS stem weighing 124 grams with a polished cheap UNO stem that with Titanium M5 bolts fitted will weigh 81 grams.
Looks OK and saves 43 grams - result.

Polishing took about 4 hours.

I can't help it - I just like the look of polished aluminium

How does the bell perform?

Unfortunately a lot of people have said it is not as loud as they hoped for, so may not be that practical.
