Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Looks like they put the battery on the underside of the left chainstay. Look closely you can see a quarter of the battery sticking out from behind the seat tube.

I'll be so glad when the trend for garish branding on every tube goes away.

That'll only happen when they stop taking pictures at bike races.

Hello I am not in the market for new bike but if I was this fabulous classic styled Bianchi Dolomiti would be my first pick. the only thing missing is a fork crown.

https://www.bianchiusa.com/10-bicycle...-dolomiti.html

BTW where do I get one of those cute 'ordinaries'?

Believe it or not, we're in agreement that a traditional quill stem would look better. You could even make a compelling argument for a silver Record crankset with a square taper bottom bracket. However I still like the bike overall, especially the gold lugs at the head tube.

I was actually struggling with similar debates while selecting parts for an early 90's Merckx MX Leader that I'm building up. It's blood red with white decals and a chrome chainstay and fork tips. "Modern" technology won in the case of the crankset (Ultra Torque over square taper), Ergo Power levers (carbon over alloy; it's a long story), and the stem (TIG cro mo over forged aluminum). Aesthetics won in the case of the saddle (white), handlebar tape (white), and bottle cages (red).

As the OP, I thought I’d air judgment on all your postings – well some of them anyway:

The Cannondale – this is one mean machine - if the German military police used road bikes, this would be it.
Pinarello Dogma – ahh, not so keen, I know this is supposed to be an awesome bike, but can’t get my head around the fact the fork and stays look like waves
Steel allez – love it, retro, not far off the first road bike I ever owed back when I was ten.
Kestrel - blingtastic, gold chain, gets the Ali G award
Scott – hate it (sorry Dr), it looks like a wasp out for the kill
Stevens and BH, both these bikes look great
Casati, love the chrome finish (or stainless – unpainted anyway) chain stay and fork
Bianchi Dolomiti – a bike after my own heart – sorry Bacciagalupe, you’re just plain wrong, celeste paint rocks
GMC in black and yellow, WTF, this gets the wooden spoon, that thing is hideous, some kind of seventies disaster
Orbea with the orange stripe, I like, sweet

Oh, and UMD, I guess I liked the exposed carbon of last year’s Specialized models, this year it’s all muted down, they look a bit dark and dreary…

Cheers for all your posts.
