A couple days wouldn't worry me too much. He seems to come through, it just takes him some time. I'd ask for a unfolded poster, but it looks crisp enough that it was probably done at the printers.

So this is a several days overdue reply, but yes, the posters turned out disappointing. I wasn't happy with the quality of the printing, and I found that shipping tubes plus the shipping of them was prohibitively expensive. It was almost another $1000 for tubes and shipping on those. For that reason, I haven't even shipped out the posters-only yet because I'm saving money to get it done properly. And I intended to kind of surprise the book recipients with new posters as well. Unfolded, well printed, framing-quality posters. I couldn't believe how expensive this project got. I learned a lot about budgeting too! But know I want to put out quality stuff, so I will take care of this.

catnap- I didn't get the message, but I saved a few books in anticipation of the post office screwing up. I'll find the email and get back to you with a new book.

i am working on the next edition, with a few corrections I've found since the first printing. Im also hope to includes small narratives about each, distinguishing features, construction method, and have better organization to it. This first one was kind of a coffee table art book, the next one will be more historical. Add more accurate, since I have a couple of corrections. Also, you first folks will get future editions 50% off

But yes, the posters concern is heard loud and clear and will be addressed.


If anyone wants to ensure a crisp poster, I will have the new ones at nahbs.

You buy inexpensive 20' lengths of PVC pipe for $4.50 and use that as a tube. That is 10 posters out of 1 stick. Ive mailed posters by PVC many times. You use the free post office tape to tape the ends and use the free post office labels for the addresses. It is very doable

Holy cow! That was a real palm-on-forehead moment. That's genius! I will certainly utilize that for mailing posters. Everywhere I looked was asking too much for them, even in bulk. Thanks for the suggestion

Slight caution, though. It is very tough to roll a poster tight enough to fit into conduit without crinkling it, unless you buy at least 2 inch conduit.
Preferable larger. Two feet of 2 inch conduit isn't going to be cheap to mail. So it drives up the customer's costs some. Or yours. But it sure will protect the posters.

Wrong Rootboy. Ive rolled up Posters in 1 1/2 Schedule 20 PVC without a single crinkle many, many times. I used to sell posters on the bay for a really long time. You roll them up tight, slide them into the PVC and then let them unravel inside the tubing. Very inexpensive and available in 20' lengths

Ok. One only needs to be careful, as those of us like you and I who have been dealing with flat stock and posters all of our lives know, with that first roll. I've seen plenty of posters and limited edition prints crinkled at the first roll by folks who didn't know how to start the roll when trying to do it too tightly. But if one is careful it can be done well, of course.

Ok, I feel like I'm being a pest.... Any updates? I'm curious if anyone else got their poster yet. I only ordered a poster, no book. Last I new, they were printed and there were shipping issues. That's been, maybe about six months ago.

Same here but I do wish the poster was rolled rather than folded (see previous pages comments).
Although, on the bright side, after months of stacked books on top of it, the poster is finally flattened out to the point where I am satisfied with framing it.
