^^^ Got that part but is there one that is better strength wise?

This should probably go on the Touring list...

I just run the same type that I have in the main triangle… I’m not really sure that the location of the cage matters.

The third cage is typically inverted, beneath the downtube and down toward the bottom bracket. So, the weight of its contents pull downward on the short, unsupported end of the bottle cage. I use the third cage on my tourer for the headlight battery (contained in a bottle DIY-style).

REI had some great stainless cages on sale. They may have been closeouts, so not sure if they still have. Just put a pair on my Scapin.

I've been riding for around 45+ years and have gone through a lot of different cages over the years. To me, the "sexiest" cage I've come across is sold by Wabi Cycles. Form follows function:

Sexiest................. hmmmm. I've never had sex with my bicycle. Not saying I'm against it, just that I've never done so. But, never say never. Kinky.

For a form, I use the thermos with an innertube wrap for extra space. I then have a stick to make a groove for the bolts. Non-stick plastic on both sides of the wet CF. Wait about 25 hours and pull the thermos before it is full hard cured. It takes a really hard pull to get the form out. Trim the top with snips at this time too.
I then put the bottles in a sock and slip it in, a perfect snug fit. Also helps to keep them cool.

Actually, I just bought a new roadster and a new batch of CF supplies to make some more. How I'm going to hide the smell in my apartment is another matter. LOL.

Rats!!! and I that that was a JATO Unit for steep hills.

I use two plastic water bottle cages on my bike. I usually only use one bottle per ride but if I'm going to be out on a long ride with little chance of finding a good place to replenish supplies it's nice to be able to carry two bottles.

I use the tabbed Velo Orange SS cages and a few of the Mojave cages for 32 oz Nalgene or 40oz Klean Kanteen bottles
