Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Professional rowing coach at a yacht club. Go figure.

In previous lives I have been a graphic artist (design, pre-press) and also a high school teacher (history, art, design-tech, silversmithing, woodwork).

Was once a garbage man for a very short time, but that is a much longer story for another time...

It's been hard this winter as I've only managed a 50% 'ride' rate'. I've had some health issues, but I'm starting up again tomorrow. It's been good reading the posts and threads on BF as it keeps the fires stoked. Thanks guys...and gals.
You sound like you're probably the most interesting person at your work. Good for you for commuting such a long distance, and I hope those health issues work themselves out.

Cheque pickup and client registration at the Downtown Toronto Welfare office. We get most of the city's homeless and mentally ill clients, or clients with substance abuse problems so it's pretty much always exciting.

What is your focus/book on? I am focused on US medical history specifically reforms in Education during interwar periods.

Depends where you are. I have been in that type of place, not food, but people, and quit because of it.

I have worked in places more like hells kitchen mostly. The classical chefs are crazy about the food. But IMO thats how it should be, the food comes first, being nice is a far second. When studying in dublin got hit in the head with a pan for messing up a dish. yeah it hurt, but learned more than I did at school in a few months was studying there

Lots of thrown plates too...
