Are Cat 1 racers considered pros?

Put up or shut up. Race me. You are a coward.

It was, unless someone else stepped up to race, and someone did. We need to work out the logistics. It will be a friendly race, however, not for money.
I am a better cyclist than you, period. You don't get paid to ride simply because you are not good enough. I got paid because I was the best.
If you think you can beat me then do so. But we both know you will lose. Do you even know the basics for heavy traffic riding? Do you know how to prevent being doored?

Do you see how your logic is flawed?

So now you are in dick tuck mode making excuses. I expected as much. If you beat me you will earn $5k. But you won't. You are a hobbyist and I would ride circles around you.

You are a hobbyist too. I am just a much much better hobbyist.
You're also a bit not PC enough for this forum.

RadDog you're not in the right subforum for challenging anyone to a messenger or alley-cat style race. Check out SS/FG, you'll find more risk takers over there. If you want to challenge someone to a 1-up race on a close course, hill climb, or individual TT well then by all means proceed, and add me to the list .
I'm inclined to close this thread as there is really nothing good coming out of this. You sort of mentioned that your intention earlier was to post in jest, and as a result this thread has devolved into a bunch of meaningless personal attacks and egomania.
I'll leave it open for now in the off-chance that I will (hopefully) stand corrected. Maybe, just maybe we can get some meaningful content/discussion that is on-topic.

I believe roadwarrior used to be paid to race bicycles once upon a time. Is he the only one in this thread?

I really really hope this isn't the Houston alley catting or racing he's referring to:
I'll give it an A+ on folks having fun. Shoot, I even see a disc wheel on a fixie in the video. But I'd put $ on Hermes smoking that "kilo" style race in the second video.

Their cadence is atrociously low for the end of a fixed gear race in that "drag race" thing.
But yeah, it all looks like a fun time riding bikes, so good job on that part.

Probably overcooked it in the first part of the race.
I wouldn't do it, as it's rude to take up too much track time waiting on our slow pokes........but a car person I knew had a connection to a local 1/8mi car dragstrip. I asked, joking, if they'd let bicycle guys drag race if they could at least post times quicker than like 30 seconds for the 1/8mi. He told me that he had some VW aircooled cars that ran 30's! So, it wasn't a problem as long as it was bike on bike and no cars or motorcycles! Ha ha. I told him I was just joking. But while they clean the staging area at the burnout box you could let the weird bicycle kids go race!

I wonder if the sticky stuff they spray on prepared strips (trackbite) would slow you down (or get all over the bike).

Ohhhhh, I never considered that. Ha ha! That would be a fail!
I guess you could move over to the far sides of the lanes where there's less of that stuff. But then you'd be riding in the tire debris.
Sounds like that daydream isn't really feasible.
