How the heck does Scott get their CR1 frames so light?

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I implore you not to get anything without riding it for a while first.
That's me screwed then. That Cyfac's gonna ride like a pig

Test-rides only make a difference if you don't know what your fit is (stupid!) or if you care about ride quality (weakling!)

That's funny! My current ride is a 2005 Scott CR1 Pro. I sold a 2005 Specialized Tarmac to get it. everywhere I go on my SCOTT I get comments from cyclists as well non-cyclists regarding my bike. When I had my Tarmac, I went to the same places and never got any comments or remarks. The Tarmac was a fantastic bike but after I test rode the Scott, I sold my Tarmac two days later and bought the Scott. I guess it's just a matter of opinion.

There must be a low mark up on Scotts. I tried to talk to my LBS about getting a frame and the manager did everything he could to get me off the subject.

What is interesting is that in the linked test the Scott is labelled a standard performance frame rather than a high performance frame.

Now why anyone would get a Cyfac is another story.

Not every crash is the same. Sliding along on your arse at 35mph is not the same as t-boning something at 15mph.

New Litepeed Ghisallo is 100gms lighter

Get a Litespeed. Excellent idea. Be sure it's a $6,000+ Ghisallo. My buddy let me ride his and it was like riding a parking meter post.

Im pretty sure he was being sarcastic.

My roommate with two matching broken Orbea Orca frames would beg to differ.

Hehheeh. In the 80s it was reported in England that Americans never used sarcasm. hehehe. That has put paid to that theory except sarcasm is usually exagerated so all dummies cna take it in.
As for six13 having zero bling. Well in Europe they have loads of BLING ( i presume that is "coolness" factor or in Spanish "guay").
In the same way I consider ORBEA to have 0 bling but maybe in the US they have bling.
What is "bling" round here is dusting someone on a climb or descent who has really top equipment but is just riding for the bling factor yet he can't climb or descend or even put it smooth turns.
Bling is having a really good value for money bike and dusting others.

With 2 matching broken frames could there possibly be some structural defect in that particular frame run?
I am curious, as that sounds like an abberation to me.

Yes sir...as is everything else. I have never ridden a Scott but I love the looks of them and would love to take one out for a ride. I'm just afraid that afterwards I would have to empty my piggy bank to have it

Cheers,

Brian
