Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Quite literally every picture of every cyclist ever taken (sans the pics above).

Over socks, but that's mostly just because I'm not a barbarian.

The bigger question: is it sock - shoe - sock - shoe or sock- sock - shoe - shoe?

Ankle socks under my kilt. Sometimes I'll wear merino wool ankle socks when I'm feeling extra fashy. I get Russell ankle socks with L and R on them so I don't waste time trying to remember which sock goes on which foot.

When it's cold enough I wear capri length bibs for that stylish 1960s Mary Tyler Moore look.

Always under. I really don't like stretched socks that fall down. And if it rains, all the water running down our tights goes into your shoe. No way for the water to do anything else. No thanks.

Except: no-cycling right socks go over my right pant leg to keep it off the chain when I am in street clothes and don't have pant clips.

This is funny and entertaining. Start one for cycling caps under helmets with brim facing front or back.

Socks over tights to keep the tights from ( at least mine) from getting caught in the chain, I wear a pair of running pants that are warmer than tights and thicker but not skin tight. They could get my right leg caught in the the chain or at least close enough that socks over prevent this.

When I'm wearing tights and longer socks I always put the tights over the socks. But I could have gone with the last option as I tend to wear ankle socks a lot. Certainly during the warm summer months. If it's cold enough for tights i'm wearing longer socks.

I have L and R tattooed to the corresponding foot, so that I can remember which is left and right.
