Maybe not wholesalers but the current owner bull shat about the company's origins on the new website....

Also here's what he says about the 484 items in the "Special Order" section:

"Special Order NOS Bicycle Parts"

"Parts in this category are in deep warehouse storage, so please allow 2-4 weeks for delivery. We batch orders together when pulling from the warehouse. "

Different seller but similar MO:

There was an eBay seller down in SoCal by the name of Barron something or other who went by half dozen different handles including his wife's nick name "Banana Brain". He and his wife used to go to Europe several times a year and clean out old bikes shops. They had shipping containers full of classic cycling stuff. Eventually they had a storefront business in Santa Barbara but it faltered too.

Prices were great but sometimes you had to wait for months to get your order! Sometimes you would get a refund with no explanation. Last heard of, his son was selling out of Paso Robles, CA,.

Baron C, four different physical stores, three in SB, one in Santa Paula (nice space, ludicrous in every other respect- Santa Paula gets an excursion train from Fillmore on the weekends but beyond that is a farm labor town, attractive but on life support) Then may have rebounded one last time with an entirely different ebay name which escapes me. Chris Brewster?
Cecile helped organize the bike co-op in SB, then vanished from that.

Yes! Baron Corpus and his wife Cecile... They were well intended folks with lots of contacts in the classic bike world in both Europe and the US. But... They were terribly disorganized.

They had a nice website for a while that pictured the Santa Barbara showroom and a lot of items listed for sale. You had to make an appointment to visit the showroom. A friend who's an active CR member here in the Bay Area knew Baron and had dealt with him for years.

My friend had placed an order for a bundle of Clement Del Mundos and some other things. He waited and waited but no response from Baron. He finally got in touch with Baron a week before he was going to be in SB and made an appointment to meet. Baron was a no show.

Several weeks later he stopped by the shop which was closed but he found Baron out back working in a shipping container. My friend got his tires plus Baron gave him some bundles odd size clinchers and more.

In my last dealing with Baron, I ordered a 50T Campy SR chainring. Months later after no contact, I received 2 Japanese made 50T chainrings with no explanations.

I had a few dealings with the son with mixed results.

Worth posting a review here as much as anywhere, I suppose. I ordered a pair of Shimano 105 Downtube shifters from Loose Screws last Sunday; having not received an email confirming my order (as I've grown accustomed with other, larger online web stores), I started to get a bit anxious, googled, and turned up this thread.

I emailed the contact address on Monday, and resigned myself to being patient -- I received a Shipping notice (with Tracking information) on Tuesday, and have the parts in hand on Thursday; just four days to process and ship my order.

Overall, I would shop again and can recommend Loose Screws -- and I didn't notice any firearms on the website. Your experience may vary...

So now NO gun parts...

For a while it was ALL gun parts and he had a 'fun fact' thing saying something like 'did you know that Loose Screws originally started as a bicycle parts retailer?'
