I'm a big fan of platform pedals myself, all of my bikes have them, except for the few that have those silly triangular Shimano 105 dealies with toeclips. And before I discovered they weren't "cool," I had stem shifters on my one and only bike for the longest time, my '72 Lambert that was equipped with all the old crap I took off my bent 1970s Le Tour. I still have those stem shifters and will probably put them on something, someday.
I remember well that rock-solid-gorgeous Peugeot you brought to that ride we did from Issaquah up to Marymoor Park and beyond that one day; hope to see it again.

Now, just to be disagreeable, I wasn't riding my UO 10, on that ride.
I was riding my Moto Grand Touring.
I really liked bombing around town on that bike.
Except now it's hanging up in the rafters of the garage with all the good parts stripped off.
I stripped the parts off after I bent the frame crashing into my garage door.

Looking at the 127 posts here Im very impressed. As the OP I believe that most you guys understood what I was trying to get at. Im glad...And yes, as a whole most here are supportive. I have received a bunch of private messages as well expressing the same opinions as I but dont want to bring it up publicly.
Most of you guys understand where im coming from, Just to be clear however, I think everyone including myself invites constructive critisism. Especially if your correcting my spelling. If you watch my videos you will notice i often ask for feedback.
Thanks for indulging me as I bring up a difficult subject..
I'm glad to be part of a knowledgeable and understanding forum.

I've never felt the need to correct spelling, punctuation, or grammar, which is kind of my day job (I teach college-level writing). Certainly, I notice errors, make them myself fairly often, and tend to skip over those BFers who write in ways I find too hard to understand with a quick read. Actually, lousy pics bother me far more than language transgressions.

My three favorite Internet discussion forums by far are BF C&V, BF 50+, and PassatWorld B5 (1998-2005), because most of the contributors to all three are courteous and helpful, eager to share their impressive knowledge and to learn from each other. All three have given me both information I can readily use and a steady supply of new valued friends and acquaintances, some of whom I have had the privilege to meet subsequently in person.

Great sentiments. IMO, I love vintage's and seeing what people do with them or how they've maintained them. A lot more interesting then new off the shelf products. Not that there is anything wrong with that either.

Best opening post I have read on this board in a long time. Like others, have not posted for many years because of (minority not majority) mean spirited banter. There are of course some of the best people I have ever met on the board. A member took me under his wing as a green horn and did not judge my gas pipe Junker. Helped me to build my first bike and ignited a passion for the hobby long term. That is the factor; I admired most about this group. The capability to share vast knowledge, enthusiasm and experience in a friendly and unselfish capacity.

Support JJ's Gentle Note
Positive people have less stress and love longer. Stress is a part of life but better communications and exchange of ideas happen when everyone feels valued.
Ive been coming to this forum for many years. I have posted many times.. Hundreds actually. I love the feedback and the input from all of you that know more about my bicycles than I do. I really do! You guys have got me out of a lot of jams when I had questions. However, Im a little disturbed when I see some tear down other BF members and their bicycles.
Just a gentle note to some. (If your offended by what im about to say, this message is probably for you.) Please remember, some folks that post their bicycles on this forum are taking a risk. Some are posting the only bike they own and its their pride and joy, some post her bikes that are not high end but still are very valued. Some post here bikes that they restored for the first time. People come here to show off their bikes and hope for a little affirmation because we have a common interest. I cant see any reason why someone would feel the need to tear down the BF member that may have not set up their bicycle as YOU see fit. Lets encourage and build each other up.
Lets be clear for a moment. This is a lonely Hobby. I have a freaking bicycle museum in my basement and those in the bike club I ride with have ZERO interest in my vintage crap. Im ok with that. Thats why i come here and have a YouTube channel to talk about my crap. So, remember that before we feel the need to rip someone over petty stuff. Just saying. Im sure many of you are in agreement.
