Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Hi,

I didn't get any studio shots of this one. It would have taken an extra week or two (my photographer was out of town) and I didn't want to make chimay wait any longer...although it has been a good zen excercise for him.

anyway, I am glad that the bike is getting a good response. This project definitely pushed me more than any other.

Sacha - thank you for the reply. I was hoping there'd be some "pro" shots as well. However, Chimay, some daylight shots would be great. if I lived anywhere near you, I'd offer to do some studio shots.

I really like the red/orange seals on the phil hubs. imho it is one of their identifying features, they are just very...Phil. Anyway, they do black seals too, but they are low drag and won't seal out all of that desert dust when you ride off into the sunset.

Sacha, I was just busting Brent's chops. Although I've got this thing for a lack of color, I could care less about the color of my hub seals. WTF, they match the PW BB seals. And if they work better than black, then it's all good by me.

Bottom line on this bike, it was my dream bike and Sacha delivered it in spades and then some. Truly going way beyond my expectations.

And hang in there guys, I'll get some daylight pics. I've also got a friend that's a pretty decent photo guy. We'll get some artwork up soon. In the meantime, I gotta go ride the snot out of it!

Thanks to everyone for all the good words too!

if you dropped that much on the bike, you might as well ride it on down to the mall and spring for some professional glamour shots, right?

I can't quite decide if it'd be criminal to ride that stunner on the street or not ride it on the street. Sacha, you do beautiful work, damn. If I wasn't so close to Mercian (which also tends to be a wee bit less spendy) I'd definitely be all over your stuff.

I do believe that I have seen the most beautiful bike I'll ever see. It's ornate enough to provide visual interest, but so elegantly simple at the same time. The seatstay bridge capped it for me. I was withholding full judgement until I saw that. I mean, the handlebar..... well, it had me, and then the bridge..... I couldn't really talk.

My compliments to both the artist and the visionary/recipient.

I have both, but I'll let you guys know if/where there's a problem with either.

do you mean the spokes would fail at the butt? The only spoke failure I've seen (short of being hit directly by an object) was at the elbow.
