Wait, what???? You had something else going on there.

I have 130mm hubs in 126mm frames with no problems. I align the dropouts with a set of Campy tools using the 130mm spacers. Easypeasy.

I think the problem is that there are hardly any 5/6spd cassettes anymore, and probably close to none with a higher gear ratio
There are no 5/6 speed HG cassettes. You just take an HG cassette of any speed, and remove a few cogs until it fits the shortened freehub. I am guessing it can take 7 or 8 cogs out of a 10 speed cassette.

Only the last 5 posts are from this year. The rest are over a year and a half old!

Okay, here is new experience with the BITEX RAR8-Hub. My frame has a width of 120 mm at the back. Normally you can drive 5/6 gears with it.

I have mounted a 9 speed cassette with a Shimano Dura-Ace 7700 Derailleur.

It works great!

Where, when, and from whom did you get the RAR8? Bitex doesn't list it as current, as far as I can see.

That's I think the problem with old threads - the topic may be current, but the info may be stale. Somebody tht calls themselves 'roicycles' has some, but the RAR8 appears to be unobtanium.

It's pretty cool that you got one, Lempira.

You get them on ebay.com (Israel | roicycles).

That's a nice build, but I would have just spread the frame to 130 or 135 mm and used a regular hub.

From 120 mm to 130 mm? Seriously?

Look at the rear rack: It is part of the frame! Not easy to bend, I think.

It's not hard to re-space old steel frames, the rack wouldn't make it difficult, you just have to take care that you bend both sides equally, and check/adjust dropout alignment when you're done.
