Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Interestingly enough, I have a 2018 Roubaix comp that has had zero issues with the future shock. It's quiet, smooth, and works well.

My 2019 Diverge was the exact opposite. It always felt rough in operation, had a bad habit of bottoming out even with the stiffest spring, and developed some up/down free play over the course of the first 11 months. I had the shock worked on, they said they did a re-set of the spring. I assume it was just a lube up and kick out scenario and the fix only lasted about half a ride. The LBS was very helpful in getting a new Future Shock 1.5 installed. While it may lack the adjustability and overall smoother operation of the 2.0, it is definitely an upgrade for this bike. Now that a Diverge version of the FS 2.0 is available I may look into upgrading it when I get some new bars/stem.
No issues either with FS on my 2018 Roubaix Expert but thinking that having adjustability would be cool.

The issue I had with my Diverge's Future Shock 1.5 may shine some light on the above issues. It started to give a crunchy and loose feeling. The Specialised technician explained that if the main spring (in the sealed lower chamber) is not regularly allowed to bottom out, the surrounding cage of pin bearings will migrate within the unit leading to premature bearing wear. This can sometimes be reset by bottoming out hard but, if not remedied, will eventually cause the crunchiness I experienced. It's a shame they had not told me of this when I purchased the bike.

For this reason they have advised me to ride it without any booster spring. Perhaps that's why the bike came without any booster spring installed. I installed the medium black spring 6-months into riding it but am only 71kg and often ride on sealed roads or my trainer so may not have compressed the suspension enough frequently enough. It sounds as if servicing these units is a nightmare so they have offered to replace it on warranty with a renewed 2 year warranty on the new unit. It's a design failing. I will ride without a booster spring from now onwards.

Y'all should ride off the curb daily to tune up your FS then?
Specy may or may not come to the party for weekly spoke replacement on your favourite wheelset.

You’ve heard of the Italian tune-up; now get ready for the American tune-up

I haven't had a chance to put in any real work yet, but I'll update after I do. So, yeah - I'm glad that I have the option of having a quiet locked-out ride and know I can deploy the FS when comfort trumps OCD over noise. A bit disappointed that it's not the perfect solution I'd hoped for.
So how is your FS 2.0 upgrade working out almost a year later? I have a 2017 Roubaix with FS 1.0 that is way past its service/replacement interval. So I was going to take the winter downtime to swap it out for a new one. However, if the FS 2.0 works I'll see if I can source one for my bike.
