Do people really believe that there's less than a one-tenth of one percent chance that the staggering majority of scientists throughout the world who have done the research and published their results in peer-reviewed journals might know what they're talking about?

Which official was it in George W. Bush's administration who said, by way of justifying declaring war on Saddam Hussein's Iraq, something like, if there is a one-tenth of one percent chance that such weapons exist, we must go to war to eliminate them? Somehow that same line of reasoning doesn't apply for, e.g., climate change.

Amazing, right? Shows us what we can do with a little self control.

Um…thanks?
I only have 2 Deans. I have more Cannondales than Deans. As for the shifters, I don’t like staring at my front wheel all day.

I used to have a Series II Land Rover. The steel frames on those are known to corrode, but the Aluminum body lasts forever. And in the Great White North, where they put lots of corrosive stuff on the road from October to May I will take my chances with Aluminum. By the way, the car is now 6 years old with not a trace of corrosion.

As far as carbon recycling, it should be able to be ground down and the fibers separated and reused as tubeless tire sealant by Silca or some other product.

Anyone with half a brain knew that was a bald face lie to begin with. And my half brain certainly didn’t believe it. And as far as peer reviews, the other western intelligence agencies said there was zero evidence as well. Nice try though. You get partial credit.

See, now, this is the downside of being a Strongman - you dare not show weakness. Even though he had no weapons, he couldn't let anyone believe that, and he was far too effective at convincing everyone he was thumbing his nose at the world. And then you toss in Motivated Reasoning and Confirmation Bias on our part, plus having already made the decision.
If you want to be accurate about this, WMD only became the rationale for invading Iraq after the "Axis of Evil " connection to al Qaeda had become completely implausible. As I recall, Cheney was told by the CIA that the only connection was "the letter q". BTW, the one percent doctrine was about the chance that al Qaeda would get nuclear weapons from Pakistan. Remember that the Bush administration had Colin Powell " prove" Iraq was hiding its WMD at the UN. The notion they would have acknowledged there was less than 100% chance he had them is just wrong.
The big scandal is that Cheney basically cooked the intelligence by pressuring the analysts to build the case he wanted and he was warned several times about the unlikelihood of significant WMD.

So anyone else enjoying the irony that the guy who claims that he's sophisticated enough to know that there's been a conspiracy of all of science to spread misinformation didn't realize he was linking to the video page of a group bought and paid for by the oil industry?
What's funny about conspiracy theorists is that they can't see the real conspiracies staring them in the face.

Author is a moron and this political thread is one big echo chamber, or at least once the sole critic was extinguished.

Actually, no one here appears to be defending the author's conclusions. As far as this being an echo chamber, that's a term for when one side (the MMGW deniers) has just plain lost the argument. There's two of those who were not "extinguished", including the OP.
There have been repeated challenges to the deniers to actually address how the science is getting this wrong, and those challenges have been met with crickets. That's an admission, they got nothing.
I am, however, baffled by this inherently political topic not getting moved to P&R as soon as the OP made clear that denialism was his agenda in posting the article. I'm not aware of a rule that says we can discuss politics on this forum as long as we don't insult each other.

New idea, that rational discussion involving sensitive subjects, is allowed here… because the idea that we could remain rational is a new development, still being tested.
Having seen vicious fights over chain lube and tires, I find the civility both surprising and quite welcome.
The fact that a consensus seems to have emerged does not make this an “echo chamber” IMO, because different opinions have been introduced. They just have not been supported with facts… but no one has been shouted down for disagreeing.
If I recall my history, this is how adults used to interact when discussing important matters.

Could be the dissenters pushing the billionaires' shadow government's narrative were invited by the mods to put up or shut up and chose the latter.
