My daughter lives in Vancouver, WA, and I’m visiting for Thanksgiving. I’ve been checking out bikes on the local CL in case there’s an affordable C&V to ride while I’m there. Any rides scheduled over the holiday weekend?

To any fellow Alaskans,an FYI regarding shipping from bikesdirect. I paid $189 shipping on a new bike in August and noticed they upped the rate to $289. I bought another bike in Sept(from Curated) and only paid $150 to ship.So be aware if you’re buying online. No complaints though, bikesdirect is reputable.

Imaginos, shipping is crazy. $506 to ship a nice Torelli to Haines from Corvallis; $250+ to ship just a Mondonico frame (No fork) from CA. I’d say you are doing good.

I currently am on walk about from Albany,OR area and now in FL. Some really nice bikes that will stay here because of the shipping costs.

For what it is worth, I belong to both the Mid-valley Bicycle Club in Corvallis and the Salem Bicycle Club although I live in Haines. Both do good work in promoting bicycle safety and access. Kudos to them and all in the PNW who do the same.

Everett, WA here. Since it's gotten cold, I've just been riding my rollers. Been here since '75. I used to ride just as long as roads weren't icy. The last few years I haven't ridden outside when it was raining or below 40°. Scraping the ice off my glasses with my fingernails got old. When one has ice on one's rims and has a rim-braked bike, not only does it not stop, but the pads don't even generate enough heat to melt the ice. Sucks. My rollers get a lot of use.

Been reading for a bit, first post. South Puget Sound here - been dodging raindrops for the past month or so but sure enjoyed how long the nice weather lasted this year.

Nice photo northbend !

Welcome retswerb , happy to have you here as #21!

I'm bike commutting three days/week and have been plowing through the rain as well. Except for the heaviest rain days, I really don't mind it.

Ended up being my last ride outside for possibly 2022. Weather change and have been out of state for job training plus weather in the Seattle area hasn’t been the greatest. Making due now with hotel treadmill…see if that keeps some sort of cycling legs come January on the trainer.

Yeah, I am here. Although I have not been on BF for quite some time. Spending X number of hours in front of computer for work purposes each day does not endear me getting back in front of a computer on my own time. That said once spring/summer kicks off, I likely will start to come here a little more often. Hard to get motivated when there is a bunch of snow on the ground.

Was living in Bothell, at the top of the lake, until October of 2021 when I made an open-ended move to AZ to look after an aging relative. I still have a couple bikes in WA and OR, so technically I'm still a resident

I didn't like it either. We got some of that Portland freezing rain in Seattle.

I view this sub-forum occasionally, very occasionally.

Is there a 2023 PNW Bike Forum ride?
Who will schedule it?

Chilly Hilly would be a good meet up.

Myself & Mrs. Base2 are going.

That's a good idea. I'll schedule one IF my heart behaves. I had an angioplasty, 2 stents, 2 weeks ago. It'll be a rough road back. I've been leading weekly group rides for ~20 years, mostly in the Redmond-Arlington area, only with old friends. I'll start a new thread.

The lady that runs McClinchy is my boss.
You can bet that I'll be there. I'm pretty sure it'll be mandatory now that I have a mechanic that can hold the shop.

base2 I just took a look at the McClinchy mile. I am going to confirm with Mrs. NoWhammies, but I will likely be signing up in the next day or two. Will be nice to say hi.
