Man, that's cool! I'm secretly hoping that the promotion will saturate the used market with Cervelos so that I can finally get one. Actually, I wish Specialized would have such a promotion since what I'm really wanting is a Tarmac.

And to think, I'm going to the LBS with my wife tomorrow to get her a bike. I should be able to talk her into into that RS and then I'll just have to get the S5 since it'll be such a great deal.

So if the S5 has a taller head tube, is it pretty relaxed then? However, looking at the seat stays, it's pretty beefed up, so is the ride pretty harsh? Man! With that deal, I can probably get lucky... <_< Still waiting for the green on the Trek from the wife, but this $2k off for 2 bikes, me and my buddy may just get lucky and become Cervelo owners!
What is the claimed weight for the S5 Rival anyway?

The S2, P3, & P4 offer the shortest head tubes / stack in the Cervelo lineup. The P2 is 1.5 cm higher, and the entire R-series and the S5 are about 2 cm higher.
The S5 has the thick seatstays like the S2 rather than the S3, and Cervelo does not tout any improvement in the S5's ride quality from previous generations, so I would guess that the "ride quality" is lacklustre.
Since the S5 frame is around 1200g, Rival build is probably 17-18 lbs with the stock wheels.

The dealers are getting hosed on this. Cervelo is trying to be as sucky to their dealers as Specialized. But they'll never be able to do that.

Your pretty close with the Rival weight. I weighed a 54cm Team model with SRAM Red , Cosmic Carbone SL clinchers and 3T Team bar/stem. it came out to 16.5-ish.

Hmmm... I wonder if the R3 Ultegra is a better ride quality than the S3 Rival. For the same price, I'd rather go with something less punishing for my n^#$. I just love how the S5 looks though... but wait, I still didn't get the green signal and here I am wishing already. If I do get the green, maybe I can convince my buddy to get the S5 and I get the R3. Since we have pretty much the same fit, we can just do the "switcharoo" from time to time.

Nut punishing is going to do more with your fit and saddle. The R3 will smooth out more road buzz than the S2...but if your taint is sore on one...its going to be sore on the other.

That was just an expression. Not really worried about my nuts getting all jarred up. I just wanted a much forgiving ride than a harsh one. The less buzz the better.

(Order of magnitude estimate assuming linearity)
If you go 1% faster on the S2/3 than on the R3 because of its aeroness, then you'll spend 1% less time riding = 1% less total road buzz absorbed!

Congrats to all those that do. Just buy 2 and flip one on ebay. I know I should.
Have to ask...anybody know when the promo runs out?

I'm not even gonna dream about it until I get the freakin' green signal... supposedly by tomorrow or Sunday. Why do I get the feeling that I'm not anywhere close getting a road bike at all! Something is up because supposedly, I was supposed to find out on my birthday which was 11 days ago. <_< It doesn't feel right at all. So why am I even bothering myself getting all excited about this deal???

Order Bike
Assemble bike (Cervelo has to be one of the worst when it comes to assembling, basically building the bike from scratch)
Sell bike
Fit bike (or at least my LBS includes a free fit)
Receive payment from Customer that is a small profit
Pay for bike
Receive compensation... and there will be more steps involved with this at a later time........
Not complaining, I actually think the compensation is cool and likely profitable, but it will be difficult for most dealers to deal with. Also, a bike sold, is after all, a bike sold. But Cervelo is asking their dealers whom are running at slim margins during the winter to sell bikes for basically no profit, just to receive their compensation at a later time.

My understanding is that dealers are getting 'compensated' by receiving a Cervelo frame set that they then have to retail to get the money back. That's ridiculous. My LBS is pretty steamed about it.

Bro, you can get a great deal on Commodore 64 computers today also. Same thing as buying a couple of Cervelos, however. Neither company is around anymore.

Ha do you think PON, who does not own any of Cervelo's competitors, will spend big bucks to acquire Cervelo only to kill off the brand? This isn't exactly a hostile takeover.
