LOL - well, I have no illusions about it, when compared to the truly fast.

A couple of years ago I was nearing the top of Monarch Pass in Colorado (elevation 10,000+). I was only about 50 meters from the top, and closing in on a woman rider from a racing team in Phoenix. I decided I had enough breath/energy left to contest it, so I shifted up one gear and started my "sprint". The instant she heard my gears change, she knew what was going on and put the hammer down...leaving me gasping and humbled (and laughing too - I caught up to her at the summit and congratulated her).

Just goes to show that no matter how fast you think you are, there's always somebody faster.

Fortunately, no matter how slow you think you are, there's almost always somebody slower too!

And in the end, it doesn't make that much difference as long as your crank's still turning.

I'm so slow, they had to create a new cycling category (Class F) that uses negative MPH numbers.

I'm so slow that both the hare AND the tortoise can pass me.

I'm so slow that if I went any faster I'd be going backwards.

. . . . that when I'm talking about a "1 in 7" or a "1 in 10" I'm not talking about how steep a hill is, but how many times my riding buddies can climb it in the time it takes me to get up it once.

Thanks for saying it first, SSP! I don't know what this "slow" is... does it have vitamins, or maybe help your complexion? If it's such a good thing, maybe it could be bottled so that some of us 'deficients' could buy some!

I'm so slow, that when I get close to clocks, they slow down too. When I get closer-, sometimes they stop. On bad days and if I'm really close, they've been seen running backwards.
