A couple of hrs of z1-2 on the turbo later. Picked up my trophies last night, the main one looks like the Holy Grail! Very hungover this morning...

^^ Congrats Alex, whatever it was for (sorry that I don't recall); it looks cool.

Shovelhd -- The mid-upper 20s this morning felt significantly colder than upper 30s to lower 40s (made me start thinking about my trainer).

3 hours this morning, completing a 16 hour week. I don't suspect that I'll be doing that again.

Woke up feeling tired and a bit worn down. I just decided to skip my ride today and get some more rest. I only had a few hours planned today and I think this is the smart thing to do.

I settled for 50' of recovery, throwing in 3 sprints which my coach asked for. Not too far off my 5" PR, so at least in that respect things are good.

Weekly totals:
~750 TSS,
15 hrs
230 miles

1' peak again today. Highest minute all year. 8 W/kg. Wasn't really trying for it, just screwing around up a little climb on the cruise back to the coffee shop after the ride.

Met up with some teammates for an indoor trainer session today and did the longest trainer ride of my life (3 hours). Having company made it a lot more tolerable; I would have quit at the 2 hour mark if I was alone.

Could only get out for 1.5 hours today so I warmed up well for 30 minutes and then went hard for 30 minutes (alternating over and under FTP by perceived effort: go over for a couple of minutes, then go under for about the same) then spun for 30 minutes to get home.

Going to the gym in just a bit to do some weights. I mainly focus of quads and hamstrings and "core", but do some upper body to get a little strength in my right shoulder.

Well done on getting out the door today!!!

That is amazing to me. I get bored with 3 hours on the road. I can't imagine ever going 3 hours on a trainer; although, were I to set up the courses on my computrainer, then maybe I could come close.

I did another 1hr 30' on the MB-2 this afternoon with my son. Brings my weekly grand total to 17.5 hours. I cannot foresee myself having another week like this.

Thanks - and it looks like you're 2nd in command this week, after GA who had 18 hrs!

2 days of rest today and tomorrow, then starting on Tuesday, the next three "weeks" consist of a 7-days, a 8-days, and another 8-days block of 12, 14, and 16 hours before going home and getting off of my bike for six days.

I'll be heeding the advice of the sages here: more working and riding and no posting.

Better research, or just an outlier? At least there is finally some scientific evidence on the pro-lifting side

hard to tell since accessing the text is a cost-based thing. I have been suspicious of the original anti-lifting study that has been referenced often (the one that Coggan linked to in Wattage) since it appeared that they chose a group of already highly-trained cyclists and there was no way of telling in the abstract if proper tapering was done.

I pushed it pretty hard in the gym on friday and even after a rest day my legs are still poop. the results would have been pretty bad if they tested me based on my performance on the MTB today.
