What is the most appropriate timeframe for FTP test? I've heard people saying 20' , others 60'.

I think the idea is that the definition of FTP is for 1 hour of effort, so ideally you do the FTP test for the full 1 hour to get the most accurate result. However, in practice, you have to be incredibly experienced in pacing for that whole hour, and if you're doing it outside, there's also the problem of finding a route that will allow uninterrupted FTP testing. So not really very practical, which is why shorter versions are available that help estimate your 1-hour power.
