Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

you should learn to recognize no one made you the joke thread police.

If if you wanted to politely point something out to me, or anyone, pretend to have some class and use the PM feature.

I have the original Specialized turbo slicks on my Roubaix and they're not bad below about 20mph straight line, and downhill, but I felt the back end on wet leaves kick out a little around 10-12mph while pedaling. Coasting, maybe a mph or 2 faster, but, I need some new tires. Rode in the rain yesterday. All I can say is, thank goodness for disc brakes.

How much faster is a carbon pothole than a good steel or aluminum pothole?

I understand now, not originally, that this is a joke thread. That's great and I hope everyone gets a kick out of the humor. I think calling someone out and publicly launching an attack on them is not a joke. I have pretty thick skin and can take a joke as well as give one, but arrogance is not something that should be tolerated.
So where did my comment come from indyfabz, read what I wrote. If you felt the need to point something out to me, a PM would have been much better accepted. You felt it necessary to make a point publicly, so expect something to get slung back your way.
I came to this site for friendly and sincere conversation. Your welcome mat was not appreciated.

I publicly attacked you? LOLOLOLOL! You got that backwards. It was clear that this was a joke thread from the fourth post. I merely pointed that out in a plain, non-insulting manner. In response, you called me classless. As a few other recent comments have suggested, your skin is not as thick as you believe it is. And, BTW, the Road Cycling forum you had better be prepared to tolerate far worse than what I wrote.

smh

That goes for most of the sub forums on here. We have a twisted sense of humor, which by the way is one of the things I enjoy on BF.

Absolutely (with Touring and Clydesdales being two exceptions.) Rarely does a week go by that I don't get tears in my eyes from reading threads on the road forum. Anyone who took the time to read even the first page of this thread would see it for what it is. If you cannot take something like that being pointed out to you in simple, not-insulting language than you are going to have a miserable time here. Just consider when people inadvertently resurrect zombie threads. Pointing out in a post instead of a PM that a thread is 10 years old makes me classless? If so, then there are good number of classless people on BF.

Try LCF (Living Car Free). You can engage in sincere and humourless conversation endlessly over there. Friendly? Not so much unless you are in complete agreement with the two/three dominant voices. As Indyfabz points out, Touring is headed that direction as well, so might be another possibility.

I believe carbon potholes are more compliant vertically.

Thanks, well put and point taken. I guess it is all a part of being a newbie and the learning curve.

Things can get a little rough and tumble in here, but seriously (sorry!) it is a pretty funny -- and friendly -- place most of the time if one rolls with the jokes.

This one sure turned south for a while, anyway. Hmmmm..... almost took the fun out of it. Oh well, what about speed going over glass bridges? Been there, done that, had the bruised hip and ego to show for it.

This one is Chattanooga. It was a morning ride through the city, and I decided to ride across it. Little did I know.... Talk about wiping the streaks off of the glass with the azzz, that's what happened when I hit that dew covered glass. Isn't it funny that no matter how much it may have hurt, the first thing you do is look around to see if anyone was watching.

I like to go to the A&S forum when I think my life sucks so I can remind myself that I could be a lot worse off.
