Nice. How does one get to that screen if one is nowhere near any active ANT+ sensor? It seems that Zwift needs to get past the find sensors screen to be able to get to creating a workout.

I had my laptop set up by my trainer to watch a movie and thought about trying zwift. But I don't want to lose to e-dopers. does Zwift have a solo-mode where you just get the prompts and visual feedback?

As far as I know, its always 'multiplayer'. It's up to you to ride alone or in a group though. Riding the opposite direction on Wattopia usually has fewer other riders.

I've been on Zwift before 5 am. Now that they are in full launch mode, the fewest riders I have seen online at that time are between 150-200. Back during the beta there were times when it was a dozen.

Last couple rides there were a lot of riders. One of my recent rides there weren't that many, like 80 others (12/9). 11/26 it was almost empty. First shot, whatever. Second shot I was riding with a former teammate and still friend. He led me out for the sprint, despite me saying I was cooked.

I'd have to imagine that would get boring pretty quickly.

I reckon that's like trolling an internet forum. It's more about starting trouble than actually winning.

The thing is...
People seem to do this kind of cheating regularly. They don't actually get tired of it and stop. Some riders seem to have been doing it long enough that they are actually paying the ten bucks per month in order to play with their drill.

If you look at some of the folks who have trolled the halls of BF is it any different? Stirring **** is a sport in and of its self. The rewards are personal and hard to understand, but people spend significant time and effort (and sometimes costs) to stir trouble.

If you do one of the workouts, there is less interaction with the other riders. They're still there, but they don't intrude as much and you don't see the sprint or KOM times.

That led to tightly controlled servers where you get vetted on a public server, they give you the code to get into a closed/private server, and you can play without much concern for the hacking players.
I foresee this happening with Zwift, if it's possible for them to do that. Not sure of the game engine etc.

90 minutes, starting with a crazy Sub2 ride where the front group was climbing at 5 ewang, which was stupid and disruptive. The rest was JRA.

I got mixed up with one of the ZTR groups last week (happened to be going the same direction). Wasn't trying to stay with them , but they were riding the same pace I was. Tried to ride ahead and they surged to catch me. Tried to drop behind and they slowed. Weird. Once I finished my lap, I turned around to go the other direction and made sure I wasn't synced up with them again. They can do their thing and I'll do mine.
Sooner or later I'll make an effort to do one of the races. I'll probably wait a couple months until a lot of the virtual dopers and drill operators get bored and move on. They dropped off considerably when people started having to pay, but they're still out there.

I'm hoping the flat option will be good for warmups. Do you know if you can switch from flat to normal in the same session?

yes - here's the 411, and watch the embedded video, it shows how to pick routes, turn, and understand the visual cues in the game:

do other folks see your data? that is can one analyze your history, or can that be locked down?
if insideride gets their smart trainer off the ground I'd probably try and figure out the technology for next off season.

Nobody can retrospectively view your data unless it's on Strava and made public. Anyone can view your real-time data while you are riding (as long as they are also logged into Zwift). I suppose a smart hacker could construct a .fit file from data of another rider that they "viewed" for the duration of that rider's session, but it would require them "viewing" the entire time. That sort of single-minded stalking seems unlikely among your actual competitors.
