Had a picture, can't find it... lag screw flat all the way through rim. Guess that's what you get for riding to the dump.

Bump! I've got a few more broken bits to add.

First, I broke a spoke on today's ride. Fortunately, I had a spoke wrench with me and was able to get most of the wobble out enough for me to finish the last 15 miles or so with 31 spokes on the rear.

Next up is a Wrights saddle. Came on a used bike. Never even used it because it felt very unstable and dried out from day one. Sadly, I just discovered that it tore on it's own while in storage.

This happened yesterday. Inadvertently stepped on top of the toe clip when getting started and snap! The rust couldn't have helped.

Heres one, off my 87 Ironman Master, its the original Wolber Super Alpine. Riding home from work one day and my rear wheel starts wobbling like a broken spoke. stopped and took a look and didnt see anything continued on my 12 mile ride home.

A little later on after i got home I noticed my broken wheel

I expect a few minor mishaps throughout the year. Though pretty good on preparing for mishaps, carry means to fix a spoke, have a few misc. screws, wire, duct tape, etc.. Its amazing what you can carry in a very small tool packet. Always a feel good too when someone else is broken down and I've got the fix on hand. Most common for me are a broken spoke or toe straps.

Happened to have a pic of this-

Take a closer look and then the temporary 'fix'

Jon, yes, I like these pedals quite a bit, too. Nice and wide. I did save all the bits, however, I'm holding onto them in the hopes I may find another donor pedal for a replacement spindle. I'll let you know if I come across an extra dust cap.

I've seen one of those. The customer brought it in for a flat repair with no idea of the cause.

I snapped this picture in a parking garage in Indy last year. Not particularly unusual to see a wrecked bike locked to a rack, but the sign is kinda funny.

Do these count? I like to photograph bike parts embedded in asphalt.

My photo, but not my chain, as seen on 59th St right near Columbus Circle, Manhattan:

My photo, but not my derailleur... I think this was on 7th Avenue a little south of Times Square:

I would have walked all the way home. I'm so ignorant that even though I can see the extra chain link I still don't know what broke or how it's fixed.

Ha! Same here! Was the chain too jammed into the spokes to remove it? And then it was single speeded to limp it home?

Yes, both me. The first one was serious, I was lucky and got away with a concussion, broken scapula and lots of road rash only. The second one was at slow speed, only a few bruises. Both drivers paid for damages.

Oh, I get it now--sort of can't believe I didn't notice it before.

I remember my dad telling me he had to do that once on a tour, when his RD blew up on the Turkey's national highway--which he described as a nightmare of heavy trucks and no shoulder--ten miles or so out of Istanbul.
