I missed this one when first posted. Mine is already here somewhere but here’s a reposting as I had it out today for a 30 miler. It’s a wonderful rider.

an earlier one... hard to tell my guess 1976 and a mid 80’s example.
i rode my 87 today.
the two bikes are similar but not the same, at least in the size I own.
i hot rodded my later bike with Dual pivot calipers- recently found a pair of early Campag levers with the quick release integral- the downside of the dual pivots- no QR.
i have also found the later 80’s paint darker and more intense.
the original Orange-red was more salmon color and lighter. Actually a few of the colors shifted.

Not C&V, and my only "modern" bike. But...it's orange and it has a Brooks Pro saddle, a frame pump, and low trail geometry, so I'm making it an honorary Classic bike. Your opinion will likely vary.

The enigmatic, elusive since the bizarre Walmart blowout, and absolutely fun-to-ride Rawland xSogn:

Yeah...I've heard a few different accounts of what went down, but the most sensible one I've heard is that Rawland hired a marketing manager who set up a collab with Moosejaw to produce this bike at a specific price point ($1800 complete). However, Moosejaw was subsequently acquired by Wal-Mart, who decided they had no interest in pursuing this project. Due to the warehousing conditions in the contract, Walmart had the bikes in their possession now and were able to set whatever price they wanted to clear them out. Cut to them showing up on Walmart.com and eventually dropping to about $499 each, complete.

I picked up mine from a speculator who resold to me a month ago for $750. All in all, an incredible deal for me and an extremely unfortunate situation for Rawland. It's a great bike that can handle clearances up to 650b X 60mm (~2.3"), low trail geometry, and lots of braze ons for adventuring offroad.

That's one way giant companies destroy smaller companies. It's an epidemic.
