Fair point, definitely a possibility.

I'm right behind you as this being a rushed and barely thought out last-minute mess. Probably explains why they capped the production low too - minimize losses, maximize press coverage, hell with the rest.

Perhaps "cutting bait" or "getting off the pot."

Blobs of weld have historical merit. My 73 Gran Sport is a tribute to the 70's bike boom apprentice brazier at the Carlton factory.

"I’ll admit I was expecting the TI-Raleigh to be mostly mouth and not all that much flared trousers, especially with its weight of 9.8kg, but I was completely wrong. It was lively, responsive and exciting yet smooth. When I mentioned this to a framebuilder friend of mine, he said: “Of course. It’s 753.”"

So... 'mouth' is bad and 'flared trousers' is good??

"Anything to make the copy sound good, said the editor."

well, there is the remote chance that this is some sort of cockney rhyming slang, but you'd need a Brit to confirm or deny this.
Seems a bit ambiguous/nonsensical to me.

Steve in Peoria (definitely not in the UK)

I read it as 'talk the talk, walk the walk'.

Did Raleigh screw up their 40th Anniversary Replica??
Sure they definitely did,.......... otherwise we would not be going through all the palaver in this long thread, and everybody would have been swooning over the bike and the framesets would have been sold out, way before they were even officially issued.
