We are organizing the GF Crit on Sunday, July 12, held in conjunction with the Capital Region RR on Saturday, July 11: fun, fun.

unfortunately it doesn't look promising for me. My son starts music school in Ithaca that day, and the math in getting from Ithaca to GF in time to race doesn't seem to be in my favor.

I foolishly submitted an upgrade request the day before I need to sign up for the Capital Region RR. Still pending.

Is anyone else doing ToC? I'm wondering if I should bother playing with a TT setup on my road bike this late in the game.

They have 1/2/3 and 3/4 fields so you should be fine regardless, right?

5->4, so I'm not sure what to sign up for today. There is some ambiguity on whether or not I'm eligible for the upgrade due to some old races that make up my 10. (8 this year, 3 from 2011). A race director told me to just apply for it. Do they usually take days to process?

I see. Processing time totally depends on the upgrade coordinator human, who might be on vacation or whatever. CBRC are pretty reasonable people though, if I were in your shoes I'd register for one field and if by tomorrow afternoon you're not in that category, email them asking to have your field changed. I think @rankin116 is a CBRC member, he might have more specific advice.

I'm considering taking the family up to the GMSR. I'd be up there with the family and concerned about having stuff for them to do while I was racing (road races are boring to watch) or for us all to do when I was not racing. I don't want to kill a whole weekend for them. Anyone have any input, thoughts or suggestions?

If they like hiking, there are ample opportunities. The last day is in Burlington, which is a really charming little town with a compact and thriving business district. I haven't been there in several years, though.

They do, but mom, not so much, and I think Dad should probably limit his hiking that weekend. I'm thinking of some kind of waterpark or amusement park kind of thing. But that may be a pipe dream.

I don't think there's anything like that around the area, aside frotm Burlington it's quite middle of nowhere. It's very pretty middle of nowhere, but it is isolated. Waitsfield is a cute little town and worth lounging around in, and Montpellier isn't that far away and is similarly quaint.

The locals organize festivals around draining trees of their blood, they collect it in cans and boil it and turn it into candy and pour it on things. It's kind of freaky when you think about it.

Anyway there could be some sort of tree blood celebration going on that weekend. I checked here but there's really nothing going on it seems. Vermont's Mad River Valley Calendar of Events

Tree blood season is March. You city slickers.

Also, the band photos for that county fair are utterly terrifying.

The fair's website indicates there is a tree blood temple on the grounds and that the grand viziers will be partaking in judgment against those who would dare scupper the trees and share the fruits of their labor.

I'm feeling like hilltowns may be yet another of my many humiliations, given that I've spent much of the last two weeks driving around the country. (Bonus points if you pick up the Seinfeld reference within this). may do the climb to the clouds century instead to wachusett. Still undecided though
