So, last Friday, I was riding 1.5 hours kinda mellowish endurance whatever just spinning out my legs. It was freezing-ass cold, but I had my bike at work, so I rode up to Central Park from Union Square, and when I got there I turned on my Garmin and stopped to calibrate my Quarq. I wasn't paying much attention to anything, and thought I'd just do it quickly since it was so cold, and I left my foot on the pedal. The number was higher than it usually is, but within the normal range, so I figured it was just due to the cold.
I started riding at 150w and within 2 or 3 minutes was gasping for air. "Oh ****, I totally killed myself with that test last night, I've had too much of a calorie deficit lately, it's too cold, I'm having an asthma attack, everything is wrong, I have to stop." I figured I'd give it to 10 minutes and then see, and if I was still suffering so bad I would just pull the plug because something was seriously wrong. I was hurting so bad to push 150w, whereas I'm usually having to hold myself back to stay at that power. My legs were burning, I was totally out of breath, wheezing, struggling. I was about to go home but I figured **** it, I would just try re-calibrating and give it a few more minutes. This time I did it properly, the number was where it usually was, and I was rolling along at 170w without a second thought. Huge relief. D'oh.

A friend of mine (that gary races with/knows) has some really awesome anatomy drawings. I guess that's what you do in your free time when you graduate with a studio art degree and go to medical school and bike race in your free time.

I'm using a diet app on my phone. It seems to really help me stay in control.
Until recently, I've never had a problem dieting. I could do it easily. It's tougher now. A lot tougher.
Oh look, Double-Stuffed Oreos.

I have finally finished doing laundry.
My wife was out of the country for three weeks for work and came home yesterday with nearly three-weeks worth of dirty clothes.
This would not have been so bad had the washing machine not broken on Sunday - leaving me with a huge pile of wet dirty towels that were used to clean up the mess and a pile of my own unwashed clothes.
The new washer arrived today and has already had six loads run through it.

meh, it's pretty dilute.
it gets expensive when I process multiple batches through the filtration loop and do the final QC. It sells for $40/mL on our online store, and when these batches are combined and filtered it should net me about 350mL. All in a couple days of work.

Has anyone here played around with projecteuler? Really fun, if you like programming. It gives me something to do at work. Has a bunch of math problems that need to be programmed. Lots of prime number theory, large number stuff, interesting.
I guess that could also go in the geek thread...

The plastic is easily molded/modified with these and heat guns/hacksaws/etc... Once they go on, they won't move unless you really bash them w/ a trunk/car.door/etc
Designed by Planetbike in Portland, they are the business.
Shoe covers - the Castelli ones are good, but pricy. I personally buy Endura ones, even though I have access to super cheap Castelli ones, they are my go-to bits.
The PRO ones look good, but I don't have 1st hand experience with them.
+1
