Pain=pleasure....I can see the purpose in reference to cycling. Maybe she was serious....and then when everyone laughed she went, "uh.....yeah....I made a booboo...."

Better than our get togethers. Last one was riding in 15f degrees and stopping for 3 flats.

The cat that we are now taking care of likes to kill things and then drag them under the house. The smell is not pleasant.

For those wondering bout the x-ray, yes, the shot has my hand on its side, thumb out.
Turns out to be a bone chip, the surgeon didn't want to go in for now. So I'm in a cast for the next four weeks and will miss Alsatian. Hopefully they wont have to go in afterward, but if it continues to be an issue, I'll likely delay till the off season. In the meantime, I'll get to go up to Ft Worth to see my folks before they leave the country for the next many months. So at least there's that.

a side effect of being sick for the past while is that I had no coffee for about 2 weeks.
As I'm back to feeling well, I made up my stovetop-espresso this morning, and had a 1/2 coffee mug of it as usual.
OOOOOOOOyyyyyyy - my head actually feels like it is spinning as I sit here on the futon. (or maybe that is because I am typing up descriptions to sell a TT bike, track bike, & road bike, plus lots of other bits) *sigh*

I use a Herbie Junior food processor. They don't make them any more, but any food processor should work. Flax seeds are funny, if you don't grind them up, you're doing nothing but pooping them out.

Flax could go in the coffee grinder, or buy it already ground.

I've settled on my new breakfast which is freakin' good. I cool it the night before (because it takes a while) and then put it in a covered bowl in the fridge.
1/4 cup quinoa
1/4 cup steel cut oats
1 Tbs ground flax meal
1 sliced banana
a couple shakes of lite salt
a couple shakes of cinnamon
1/2 cup coconut milk
2 cups water
Cook covered over low heat for about 1/2 hour. Pour into overnight bowl. It will still be a little soupy. Stick in the fridge.
Next morning, nuke for 3 minutes. Take out, uncover, pour another splash of coconut milk over the top and add a spoon of stevia. Mix well (it will now be much thicker than last night) and nuke for 2 more minutes.
It's a really good breakfast that comes out to about 425 calories. It's more carby than what rk is eating, but it's working well for me. The oats and quinoa do give it enough protein to be worthwhile. The coconut milk adds fat, but the fat is a lot of medium chain fatty acids which act much more like carbs that a normal long chain fat. It also tastes great and reduces the amount of sweetener I want to use, although throwing in some brown sugar instead of the stevia would only be about 50 calories, so not that big of a deal.

My standard post ride recovery drink is about 16g protein and 50g simple carbs. Add a single fig newton and it adds 20g carbs and 1g protein. That's pretty much all I need.

I can't do the big protein, even after a big ride. Any more than about 25 grams and I just fart like crazy. It's really over the top.

As both my wife and I eat a ton of protein our home stinks all the time - my BMW smells like someone took a dump in it
And big john if i were your buddy I would give you a ball kick

So is there a nutritional reason for the high protein or is it strictly for entertainment?

won some fluid electrolyte drink at a race this weekend. happy that I don't have to buy any as normally I put off purchasing stuff like that all season and just ride with water.
now I need to get some recovery mix. what do you guys like best? just regular whey protein or something more complete like recoverite? I'd like something i can just mix with water and drink. too lazy to make a smoothie with 10 different ingredients.
